The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but a candle burned in the window one night. When people from town investigated, they found a grisly scene inside. Blood was splattered everywhere, and body parts were strewn about the room. It was clear that something heinous had taken place. But who could have committed such a violent act? And why? The police scoured the area for clues, but they came up empty-handed. The only thing they knew for sure was that whatever happened in that cabin, it was something truly evil.
No one knows who lit the candle or why, but everyone in town knows that the cabin is now haunted by whatever evil force perpetrated those murders. No one goes near it anymore, and it has become a symbol of terror in the small community. At night, when the wind blows through the trees, sometimes you can hear screams coming from the direction of the cabin. And if you're brave enough to look, you might see the candle burning in the window.
One night, two teenagers decided to see if the rumors were true. It was after midnight when they arrived. The full moon illuminated the old house's broken windows and peeling paint. They could see movement inside, and they knew they were being watched.
"I don't know about this, man. Are you sure this is a good idea?" said Sam with a shaky voice.
"Come on, and there's nothing to be afraid of. Besides, it's not like we're going to go inside or anything. Steve said assuringly.
Sam took a step towards the house and said. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Let's take a look around."
They approached the house cautiously, peering in through the windows. The full moon cast an eerie glow over the scene inside. There was something strange going on.
As Steve backed away from the window, he looked at Sam and said, "Sam, we have to go in. We didn't walk all this way to back down now."
As they entered the house, they quickly realized that something was wrong. It was as if time had stood still inside. The furniture was dusty but untouched, and strange symbols were scrawled on the walls.
They could feel an unnatural presence watching them. It followed them as they explored the rooms. Room by room, the house seemed to be coming alive around them. They came upon a door that had a slight crack in it. They could hear a sound coming from behind it.
"What is this place?" Sam whispered.
"I don't know," Steve replied. "But whatever it is, it's not good."
Steve slowly opened the door and looked to see stairs that led downstairs into the basement. And then, in the basement, they found the source of the noise: a woman tied to a pole in the middle of the room.
The woman was staring into space, mumbling incoherently. They managed to untie her, but she was unresponsive. As they tried to lead her out of the basement, they felt something grab them and pull them back in. The door slammed shut, trapping them in the house with whatever was inside.
They could hear it moving around upstairs, crashing and banging. It sounded like it was coming closer. They had to do something.
The woman was their only hope. Steve shook her, trying to snap her out of it.
"Come on, we have to get out of here!" he shouted.
Suddenly, she came to life. She looked at them with wild eyes and grabbed them both by the arm.
"Run!" she screamed.
They didn't need to be told twice. They fled upstairs as fast as they could. The thing was right behind them, hot on their heels. They made it out the front door and into the woods. They could hear whatever was following them crashing through the trees. But they didn't stop running until they had put a safe distance between them and the house. Finally, they stopped to catch their breath.
"What was that thing?" asked Steve as he gasped.
"I don't know," the woman said, "but we have to get out of here before it comes back."
They came upon a road and saw the bright lights of a truck coming their way. They started to flag the truck down. They could only hope that this was someone who could help them. As the truck approached, they all took a deep breath.
The truck pulled up, and the driver leaned out the window. "What's going on?" he asked.
"We don't know," said the woman, "but whatever it is, we need to get away from it."
"Hop in," said the driver, "I'll take you as far as I can."
They all climbed into the back of the truck and huddled together. The driver revved the engine, and they sped off down the road. They didn't know what was chasing them, but they knew they had to get as far away from it as possible.
As they drove, the sun began to rise. The woman felt a sense of relief wash over her. Maybe now they would be safe. But as they drove on, she saw something in the rearview mirror. Something that made her blood run cold.
The thing was following them.
