The First Question Ever Asked

How could there ever have been a question at all?

By Brian FurphyPublished 2 years ago 2 min read
Don't overthink it because thinking only leads to one thing...more thinking.

Before we found ourselves living in a world with endless questions, there had to be the first question ever asked.

The answer to the first question ever asked requires us asking a few questions ourselves first.

So the first question for this piece is going to be why would there have ever been a first question at all and who was asking the question and who was answering the question and where was the question asked and what was the question and when was the first question asked? Now, that is one big question about who, what, when, where and why.

Let's start with why would there have ever been a first question at all?

Oh! That question may just answer the second question about who was asking the question or who was answering it. All was asking everything a question and everything was answering to all. That explains who was talking to who, doesn't it?

That leads us to where was the first question being asked and since we found ourselves here naturally than here is where the question had to be asked because all and everything are always here, yes?

Okay, so far, all was asking everything a question and that happened here. Now, the question is when? Oh! It looks like that question answered itself too by stating we are here now thinking about the first question, so the first question asked by all to everything here and now seems to be correct, yes?

Look at us trucking along as if there is nothing to this. Oh! That brings up another possibility. What if all wasn't asking everything anything, rather everything was asking nothing the first question? Then again, who could possibly reply to that? That would change all or everything to nothing at all. Ureka! There it is there.

So far so good with a minor hiccup along this line of questioning. We've found that all or everything that is nothing was asking the first question and who was that? Well, I am the one who wrote this and it makes me wonder. Woohoo! The first question must have been the following...

Who am I?

The origin of the first question.
