The first part, 'Miao Village Witch Ancestor,' Chapter One, Section Three

White hair

By 徐金升Published 2 years ago 3 min read

Before they could open the door, the train compartment's door swung open by itself. A man in white walked in. This man's age was indiscernible; in terms of appearance, he seemed to be in his mid-twenties, but his full head of white hair made it impossible to determine his true age. Shen Yuan Chao and the others were all taken aback. They gazed at the passing scenery outside the door, but there were no signs of any vehicles like cars or trains. How had this man entered? Could he have climbed onto the train?

The newcomer paid no attention to them and instead looked at the wobbly monster that had stood up.

Ever since the white-haired man entered the compartment, the monster had become quite agitated. It released Zhang Zhuo's lifeless body and started growling at the white-haired man, as if it were about to charge forward and snap the man's throat.

The white-haired man stared at it coldly and said, "You don't need to pretend. You know who I am!" Upon hearing this, the monster instantly became despondent, ceasing its growls and retreating, eventually curling up in a corner and trembling.

The white-haired man approached the monster and inspected it. He furrowed his brow and said, "A fire that big couldn't kill you, and you've even managed to regenerate to this extent. How many people's blood have you sucked?"

The monster hung its head and couldn't meet the white-haired man's gaze directly. It occasionally whimpered, sounding mournful, as if pleading with the man. It was like a frog encountering a snake, unable to escape or resist, only trembling and wailing.

"Alright, enough of that. It's time for you to go!" The white-haired man drew a dagger from his waist, although calling it a dagger was an understatement. The blade was over three feet long, double-edged, and more akin to a short sword. The monster saw the weapon and realized its imminent danger. It clutched its head in despair, whimpering.

As the monster whimpered, it surreptitiously glanced at the white-haired man. Seeing that the man showed no intention of relenting, its eyes suddenly gleamed with malevolence. With a fierce howl, it lunged at the white-haired man, jaws filled with serrated teeth, as if it were about to snap the man's windpipe.

The white-haired man let out a cold snort. The monster's counterattack caught him off guard, but it wasn't enough to make him panic. In a swift motion, he swung his sword to meet the monster's assault.

The monster instinctively used its claws to block the strike, and in a silent flash, the white-haired man's blade sliced through the monster's claws, as if cutting through butter. "Plop!" A jet of dark, foul-smelling blood sprayed across half of the compartment. The monster, which had survived over a hundred gunshots, had lost one of its claws.

Seeing the black blood from the monster's wound, the white-haired man's face twisted in disgust. It was evident that he found this black substance repulsive. To prevent the black blood from splattering on him, he took two steps back after his successful strike, creating some distance between him and the monster.

The monster howled in pain, its body arching. It seemed to have given up any intention of resisting and was ready to meet its end. At this moment, the white-haired man hesitated, looking at the black blood almost reaching his feet. He took another step back, his expression filled with disgust.

Seeing the hesitation in the white-haired man, the monster appeared to understand something. With a sudden, harsh scream, it clenched its teeth and flung a stream of black blood toward the white-haired man.

The white-haired man, realizing the monster's desperate move, stepped to the right to avoid the blood. Although the blood didn't touch him, it left an opening by the compartment's door.

The compartment's doorway was empty. Only Shen Yuan Chao and the others, who had originally intended to jump off the train, remained. It was impossible for them to stop the monster. The creature charged forward and, within moments, it was about to leap out of the compartment.

Suddenly, something dark blocked the monster's path—a shovel wielded by Shen Yuan Chao. The monster was already airborne and had no way to avoid the blow. With a "thud," the shovel struck the monster's face solidly.

In terms of sheer force, this shovel strike was ineffective against the monster, and it merely caused the creature to pause momentarily (though it left Shen Yuan Chao with searing pain in his shoulders and a torn palm). Nevertheless, it was this momentary pause that enabled the white-haired man to catch up, plunging his sword into the monster's back.

Next chapter promises even more excitement!
