Their train rattled on, the journey to Tehran already more enjoyable than their expedition across the Levant.
“I don’t understand it,” Gregor said, sipping his vodka.
“It means my understanding of many important things has proved incorrect,” Jacob said, watching the Persian country roll by their window.
“Care to elaborate?”
“Not yet, not until I know more. How long to Tehran?”
“A day. Come on, give your comrade a hint.”
Jacob shook his head, “suffice to say, our forefathers were more intrepid than I had imagined. It’s breathtaking. I have to telegraph once we’re in Tehran.”
The train rumbled on.
