and the Cursed Candle Chapter 1

By Tonia StamperPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 3 min read

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Not just any candle according to the legend. The Cursed Candle of the Demon Prince. The whole town could see this fact from the bottom of the mountain. How could anyone sleep with this spectacle. You could hear the murmur of worried voices like a heavy cloud that swept back and forth in the winters breeze. Demons?

The local legend of the Demon Prince and the cursed candle tells that all the children from town went missing back in 1827. A wealthy withdrawn family lived up in the cabin. On this night parents put there children to bed only to find them gone in the morning. There had been rumors that they worshipped Demons. The whole town looked for the children, they stormed the cabin but there was no sign of the strange family or the children. Only a strange white candle burning in the window. People have talked about tearing it down for years but no one dared to go up there.

That was until in 1927 when high school seniors from the local school thought it would be a great idea to camp in the woods by the cabin as a senior prank to scare the towns people. They say the plan was to light the candle. The entire town saw the candle burning from the window. That was the last night they were seen.

In 2007 a group of Ghost hunters decided to investigate these claims. 80 years had passed since the disappearance of the senior class of 1927. A candle burned that night as the Police records show and that the group stopped at the local Stop n Go. They left for the woods and were never heard from again. Investigator's combed the woods, what they found disturbed everyone. Not a single sign of them. The camp was set up, but they were gone. Their cars, phones, equipment all right there at the camp. They have never been heard from again.

In 2017 another group of Paranormal Investigator's showed up looking to uncover the mystery. One horrible accident after another, the group only did half of there documentary here but The video went viral. People were interested.

In 2018 only a year after the 2017 release of the documentary a wealthy man who is a well-known Demonologist bought 20 acres of land that which included the land where the cabin is located. They thought it would make a great tourist attraction and built a beautiful resort. The resort was a great success

More people than you would think are willing to spend hundreds of dollars to stay in these haunted woods. If you go online and search most haunted places, our town's name will pop. There are a few motels here in town and a diner that do pretty good. People always coming poking around, hoping to get a glimpse of the dead or possibly the Demon Prince himself.

That is until 2020, when an entire family went missing while out hiking. The resort was closed down. After a full investigation the findings left everyone with more questions and still no answers. Just as before the candle burned in the window, the families belongings along with their car were still right there at their camp; but there was no sign of what happen to them. Pictures of all the missing people can still be found to this day on a missing persons board at the local Sheriffs department.

Now two years later the resort is about to be up and running again. In less than one week the resort is due to reopen. People have already flocked to the town, waiting. There is even a reporter from the big city who rented a room here in town and told everyone he wont leave until he breaks the news of who the next ones will be.

So if the resort isn't opening for a few more days, then why is the candle already lit. Had some foolish person gone up there? Was anybody missing? No one dare venture up there in the dark. All we can do now is wait for morning.
