The classmates reunion

memory

By BlossomParkerPublished 4 years ago 4 min read

Gui Changyun, my middle school classmate. He is a particularly gentle person, I have never seen him lose his temper, he is the kind of person who can bring sunshine wherever he goes, he gets along with you, as if he has no intention to get anything from you, on the contrary, in many cases, we get a lot of unexpected care and concern from him.

Lao Gui is diligent and studious, not listening to things outside the window, only reading sage books, buried in textbooks or problems all day long; hunger for learning often reaches the point of forgetting to eat and sleep, after the evening study, the classroom lights out, he went to the street lamp to memorize the text to remember the words.

That year, he went to Suzhou Medical College, after the baptism of China Union Medical College and the Shanghai Institute of Cell Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, for the Nobel Prize in Medicine, he traveled across the ocean and entered the laboratory of the National Institutes of Health in the United States, becoming the "Curie man" of the new era.

After Lao Gui crossed the ocean, I lost contact with him. Sometimes I think of him in passing, and I wonder if the "old American" can still perceive me as an old classmate.

This September, I joined the high school classmates WeChat group.

After communicating with each other, I felt that Lao Gui still continues to touch me with his Christian tolerance and kindness, and we still communicate in the most innocent way, and he makes me feel like a spring breeze with his status as the "group leader".

This fall, in this harvest season, Lao Gui and some of our high school classmates met to return to the hometown that gave birth to us and raised us.

On the day of Chrysanthemum, I took my wife with me, full of anticipation to board the high speed train back home.

I just got on the car, the phone will ring and ring, "nine full, I'm off!" "Brother Jiu, where are you?" Great! I countless times envisioned and looked forward to the day has finally arrived, once the classmates who spent time together, after more than thirty years apart, reunited with the hometown of Nanzhou town.

On the way, the sky is beautiful, the wind and sunny, happy to see a thousand waves of rice beans, heroes everywhere under the sunset smoke.

At Lao Gui's "home", students shook hands, said hello, and exchanged pleasantries.

I really did not expect that this "fake foreign devil", who has settled in the United States for many years, still retains his cool and heroic posture, and still collects the frankness and generosity between his eyebrows. A sudden bear hug, but also let me unexpectedly, too much change! A once shy and shy boy! He has become so warm and generous.

At Rowan Sea of Flowers, some students were already waiting in the parking lot. As I read the familiar and unfamiliar smiling faces in front of me, I couldn't erase the marks of that year, even though I felt he had changed upon meeting him, but my consciousness still stubbornly thought: he is still the same as he was then!

Walking into Luowen Village, we felt like we were in a colorful dream world, where urban civilization and rural civilization collided to create a wonderful and moving spark. We walked in this "flower world" and graffiti art gallery, with our feet to slowly measure, with the whole body and soul experience to feel the hometown of a grass and a tree.

It was long past the season of lotus and sunflower blooming, but large cosmos were dotted like stars, and countless unknown small flowers were competing for beauty. Looking around this vast field of flowers, the students were happy and relaxed, and gradually integrated into the hometown of that déjà vu sea of flowers, the female students enjoyed taking pictures and playing, the addiction of the flower fairies.

In the Luowen wetland, a lotus standing still in the pond, seemingly depressed regret, but there is a wisp of dark fragrance in the floating. The lotus seeds are in the lotus, as if deep eyes, gazing at a wanderer who has returned from a long journey. The remnants of the lotus are folded down in the water, and there is an unbroken charm hidden in the decay, just like us on the shore, returning to our hometown, grounded, sublimated and insightful!

Wandering in Luowen Village, enjoying the ecological and artistic beauty of the blending of homes, flowers, graffiti and wetlands in our hometown, our classmates' feelings gradually sublimated in our vision, thinking and memory.

Such an environment, such an atmosphere, even I, a "native", could not help but integrate into the embrace of the sea of flowers in Luowen, feeling the whole body and soul of pleasure and warmth. I think: the beautiful scenery, the romantic flowers, and the pleasant trip will definitely leave the students with intoxicating memories.

After enjoying the view of Luo Wen, students converged on the Country Taste Restaurant.

Outside the restaurant, the sun was shining like an orange lampshade, radiating a soft light that warmed our bodies and faces. Everyone sat in a circle, remembering the past and talking about the present ......

When the meal started, the hot pot chicken and red braised water fish ...... were presented to the students in an orderly manner, and everyone tasted the delicacies returned from the hometown land, while excitedly asking each other about their life experiences and recalling the happy moments together.

In this atmosphere, the students stripped off the social labels such as status, occupation, position, fame and fortune that follow them. They shed such social titles as professor, tycoon, unemployed, and so on, reducing themselves to purely an old classmate, speaking freely and not hiding anything.

Later, we accompanied Lao Gui strolling Dechang Park, back to the South County Middle School, attached to the South Mao Canal. Let the thoughts or far or near slowly rippling escape, savor the joy and happiness!
