The Barnyard Chronicles: The Infamous Bonnie and Clyde
A short narrative of the opinions in the barnyard....

The feed stores bring in baby ducks, chickens, turkeys, geese, guineas, and bunnies in the spring. And every year the farmer will bring babies home. One year the farmer's son brought two little yellow ducklings home.
The two were amazingly a boy and a girl that were named Bonnie and Clyde. Bonnie and Clyde roamed the yard and the pastures by day. And slept in the barn or brush piles by night.
As Bonnie got older, she started laying eggs and the farmer decided to hatch some. Since Bonnie had no inclination to sit on them for a month the farmer asked a chicken to do it. The chicken was more than happy to help. The eggs never hatched though the chicken tried her hardest.
Bonnie and Clyde roamed and were quite happy as the days lengthened into summer. Sometimes, they talked to Hopper, but he was more interested in the bigger animals like the turkeys and dogs than the ducks. Clyde was very protective of Bonnie and wouldn't let anyone near her. The little group of guineas would try to visit Bonnie, but Clyde would chase them away. They would visit the farmer's garden and sit under the big squash leaves while the sprinkler splashed water on them.
As summer turned into autumn and autumn into winter the barn filled with hay and the farmer closed the doors at night. Everyone was nice and snug as the nights grew colder. Bonner and Clyde slept in the barn in a nest she made and were quite happy.
One morning everyone woke to a world of white outside the barn. The dogs Cleo and Caesar were running around playing and rolling in what the farmer called snow. The goats did not want to go outside, and the chickens didn't leave their house. Hester and Maude scratched in the snow for a little while but came back into the barn and scratched in the goat's bedding instead. Bonnie and Clyde waddled in the snow and had a great time playing.
Soon the days became warmer and green grass sprang up for all the animals to munch on. Bonnie and Clyde were happy to be able to splash in puddles again and swim in their pool. They had a pool just for them since Hopper did not like anyone else to swim in his pool. Plus, Hopper put rocks in his pool, and they felt that just was not a thing a duck would do.
Bonnie and Clyde lived their lives like any duck would do roaming, eating, playing, and just doing what ducks do. They couldn't fly and they were ok with that. Clyde was fast as he chased the guineas away from his Bonnie and she felt safe.
One day Bonnie hurt her foot and limped around the pasture. The farmer picked her up and put medicine on her foot and watched over her. Clyde protected her and the dogs kept both of them safe. She was still happy and slowly got better. Everyone knew the farmer was their friend and would keep them happy and healthy. Bonnie knew it would be OK.
Though Bonnie wasn't fast anymore she roamed and foraged in the grass with Clyde. She lay in the sun and spent time in the garden under the sprinkler enjoying her life as a duck. One day the farmer went to the barn and Bonnie was gone. The farmer and Clyde looked and looked, but no one could find her. There were feathers but not Bonnie.
Clyde was sad after that he would sit in their pool or in the grass no longer chasing the guineas. Everyone was sad that Bonnie was gone. After a couple of weeks, Clyde started hanging out with the guineas and roaming around the pasture with them. The guineas were old, but he didn't care they were his friends.
Now just Clyde and Jojo the guinea hang out and eat together and roam the yard. They don't go far since Jojo is old and Clyde likes to stay close to his pool or his mud puddle. Clyde sleeps in the barn or close to the barn at night and Jojo perches high in a tree but they stay close together most of the time. Jojo has a strange obsession with the farmer's truck bumper and stares at his reflection. Clyde plays in his pool when Jojo goes off and spends his days with his friends in the barnyard happy being a duck.
