"Even the brightest of souls
can turn dark as a moonless night…"

Ember was an innocent, she loved in the deepest ways a human could love.

She didn't see styles, trends, or body sizes.
Not freckles, acne, or the width of the gap in your front teeth.
No, she just saw a human, trying to get by in life, just like her.

This was now her second week of senior year, in the third high school she’d been in the last two years.

Her dad had to transfer her because of her rising violent behavior.
He didn't understand, she was just tired of being bullied.

Ember had lost her mom to suicide because of a severe mental health disorder, he wondered if it was genetic.

She was never even close to the popular girl, but this school seemed different.

Claire and Annabelle were the most popular girls in her new school, and it only took a couple weeks to grab their attention.

And for the first time, not in a bad way.

She had finally started filling out, they complimented her for having such an amazing body, and said it was fit for a cheerleader.

They fell in love with her, and dedicated themselves to turning her into another
talk of the school.

3 months later, it was prom, and she felt like a different girl.

She had caught the attention of a boy named Kyle about a month before, he was a football player.

After the dance, she got a text to meet him under the bleachers.

When she arrived, Kyle approached her and embraced her, saying, “I want you…”

“To stop being such a dirty slut.”

That was Claire and Annabelle's voices.

Suddenly she felt the ripping of clothes, and saw sudden flashes, feeling Kyle's hands all over.

The next day the "dirty" pictures were everywhere,
and Ember finally snapped.

She wouldn't let bullies thrive anymore…

When did kids become monsters to themselves and others. Such a devolving society of youth. It needs to end. Truth in your words.

This is the stuff of which a powerful reality exists - a real problem for so many. Very well written and well done.
