The 3

The year is still 2014 and things have changed seemingly for the better in a very short time. In 2007 we made contact and by the same time next year there were two alien species living on Earth. Earth as a whole is not what we know now either. The supercontinent of Pangaea never deformed to make the seven continents we have now and that continent itself is now America.

Asia is now about three times its size now and Japan is still a part of the whole body. Africa is now more than 6 times its size now and due to the new alien species making their homes on Earth and just the new sheer size of the continent the animals there have changed drastically. Some have gone back down the evolutionary ladder because it was easier to survive while others species evolved to match their now new super environment.

Far to the north there is still the North pole but it is not a barren wasteland of snow and ice. There are thriving societies and huge cities there now. Very far south the case is still the same so global warming was a thing of the past. Aside from all these other supercontinents now there is just 1 other about 3 times the size of what Australia is now that stands alone.

The entire world was now way bigger than the Earth we know now and every person on the planet now was working as one. People didn’t dislike one another or commit crimes against each other. There was 1 law and 1 one word for everything and everyone. There was a world wide economy and everything was peaceful. Except the separate and smallest continent. The government has tried to make contact with the people there but no one has ever come back with any kind of answer or information about the place.

The people there live separate from the rest of the world and they do not interfere with any part of the outer world therefore the government has just declared them neutral. By the year 2010, a mere 4 years ago, the world had but all adapted and accepted the co-existence of aliens. Before the aliens even got to the planet though society was split into a civil cold war that was becoming ever more perilous. The “metahumans” were multiplying at a rate that alarmed the human government.

As far as people could remember living alongside the original homo sapiens were “metas”. The “metas” for some reason were born with unique superhuman powers varying from telekinesis to the ability to change one's eye color at will. They vary in power level but it seems the potential of an individual meta is determined themselves. A meta would only be as powerful as it wanted to be. The issue was that there was no reason why there were metas in the world. They seemed to just be born different and for that there was a new segregation amongst men.

In this day and age the American government and other alien nations were making shaky alliances with one another so other than the laws changing religions were not the same either and religious debates were now escalating into bloody battles. The population by the year 2012 into 2013 was averaged around 60% for the original homo sapiens, 30% for metas, and 10% E.Ts.

The subtle problem was that the population of humans was decreasing and fluctuating while the others were not. As the meta population increased over the course of the years the human government decided they needed a way to keep track of each meta and their individual powers no matter how weak or powerful.
