Dragon’s Child
With my jaws parted in pleasure, I scented using my dark divaricated tongue to taste the wind. I banked towards the ocean, gliding across the bamboo forest and towards the scent of seabirds. Increasing my speed, I used my eyes, instead of simply scenting to enjoy the caress of wind. Concentrating, I felt the familiar sensation of my eyes adjusting, a light tingle, a slight pressure- from the effort of seeing the heat signatures of the world around me. The black night erupted into deep blues and luminous purples, with faint orange pinpricks for stars. As soon as I looked up in the direction of seabird, I saw bright orange forms heading slowly towards the coast. My tongue licked eagerly at the air. Just a little closer I waited until the glow of bright orange was just above me. Then I arched upwards, rending the air with membranous wings, curving my serpentine body and snatching three seabirds in one motion, quenching a small portion of my thirst. I took my time returning inland from out over the ocean. Angling into a smooth descent, I began to glide above the bamboo and tropical trees once more. It was bad form to fly openly on a night so well lit by moonlight, and I was relieved to be back above the labyrinth of mountains that was my home.

The Lion of Garatoth
The air of war surrounded me. Thousands of boots marching in sync produced an earthquake that rattled my very bones. Shouts mingled together into a raucous cacophony. Though I had no view out of my cramped tent, I could see the soldiers in my mind’s eye: smiling, backs straight, eyes forward. Confident.

The Allie
Good enough. Deciding I'm in a close enough area to the hunters' frequent sighting reports, I stop to set the bait. Casting a wary eye around the dark woods, I unsling my pack. Pulling out the dirty golem, I lay its inanimate form on the ground, examining it by moonlight. The golem, shaped to look like a toddler-aged boy, disgusts me. Its bland gray limbs are stuffed into ratty children's clothes. It's been rubbed down in grime and sweat and shit so it smells as if a child had been left alone for days out here.

Sixth Degree Burns.
Before I tell you the details of our plan.. I’ll tell you our “villein” origin story. My sisters & I are an anomaly, if you wana call it that. We all carry active dragon genes. Which SHOULD be impossible (the government says). The norm is one active gene dragon per woman. That’s how it’s been for..for-ever. My sisters and I are all active dragons. Not just one kind of dragon but each one of us has our own clan, our own colors, and our own powers. There’s Red Dragons( Me),the Green/Emerald dragons(Casey) have powers like acid breath & toxic talons, the Gold Clan(Derrey) controls and manipulats electricity, Blue Dragons(Ash) have the gift of cloneing, Purple(Faye) can use absorption and fusion,Black or white dragons (Britt), can read minds & control illusions. I don’t know what caused this to happen but the breeders were sure it was our mom. She Herself, a dormant dragon, should never have been capable of making us. Let alone 6 different clan dragons. They took her from us. As soon as my youngest sister Casey, opened her emerald/green dragon eyes. She was no longer our mother. She belonged to the city. It was her duty to make more dragons. I guess our mom knew what was to come. She didn’t fight or plea. She looked at all of us one last time and said “stay together”. Which was easy for a while. They let us stay together since “none of us were of age.” So Since we couldn’t use our powers or make more dragons we were considered useless and not a threat.

Golden Emerald
The light from the crescent moon shown down on the lands of the kingdom of Havendale. Far away from the castle a creature drifted through the sky. The rich golden scales of the young dragon Aureum rode the winds of the frigid night air. Aureum was aware of the cold but did not feel it’s cold embrace against his warm body. His nightly hunt had left him satisfied, but still felt the need to fly. The feeling of freedom was overwhelming blissful. Besides, the night was what allowed the dragons freedom. During the day they mainly kept hidden and close to the ground. While the humans slept, the dragons hunted. This is what kept the peace between the humans and dragons. It had been that way for hundreds of years. After what seemed like the never-ending wars between the two different being, it was decided that they live separately, and more importantly in peace. Dragons didn’t see or bother humans, and humans responded in kind.

Witches by Nightfall
It was not a surprise when she came knocking at my door. The rain was coming down in torrents, and her umbrella did nothing to stop the relentless water from soaking her fine clothes. In my hand I held my favorite tarot deck, and in my heart, I could feel her sadness. “Moonchild, I require your immediate services.” Though we were acquainted, her tone remained steady and none the less chilly, as if she were talking to one of her handmaidens. I nodded and stepped aside, allowing her to walk into my warmly lit home.

The Master Of Eight
Chapter One The ship docks in coarse black sand and the white froth of the sea laps at its aft. The parasites now dress in thick wraps of fur, they pull leather gloves on their sickly pale hands and wear the remnants of gutted animals on their heads. Cuffs of iron rattle when he is pulled out of the damp bilges, despite the dark mass of clouds in the sky, he winces at the assault of daylight on his deprived senses. On the right side of the ship, mountains of obsidian black loom high into the blemish of charcoal clouds. He only drags his eyes away from their magnificence when he’s held by the crook in his armpits and dragged forward.

The Scaleless
Is that the glow of another village burning? The end of so many lives, for what? Greed? Religion? Or the most atrocious, because of the tones of their skin. I will never understand these horrible beasts. The scaleless. What cruel god made them? What cruel god could have left them to their own devices? They deserve to be abandoned, maybe that is what their god did. Who would blame them? I sure wouldn't.

The Forest Dragon's Heart
The Forest Dragon sensed a stirring, a presence in the woods that was not native to its territory. The mushrooms were concerned, the moss had a complaint, the twigs were chittering all about it, the insects didn't know whether to be awe-filled or awfully annoyed. As sovereign of this land, the dragon would surely take care of the issue, one way or another. With a stretch of wings and a slither of scales, the ground rumbled in its wake. Ready, if needed, to intimidate.

Arthur, Brother of Dragons
Bahamut, king of the dragons, examined a chest half hidden in a hollow tree, covered with branches and leaves. The hurried disguise would have tricked many passers-by if it wasn’t for the foul odor coming from inside. The dragon sniffed at the air and listened. Whoever had hidden the chest here had left hours ago. Bahamut lifted the lid and was met by an ear-splitting scream.
