The Adventures of Curious Khan
Callie rolled her eyes, her claws extending just the tiniest bit in annoyance. “Walk away, Khan, I’m not in the mood today.” Despite the blissful weather, the sun shining down as it descended for the day, Callie felt like a thunderstorm inside. Her hackles raised, black hair rising off her body in warning, her shiny black tail poofing out, but the big horse didn’t seem to notice. His quiet hoof beats kicked up dust around him as he approached the fence line. Callie turned her back on him and jumped up on the picnic table that sat just outside of reach of his field, proceeding to groom herself. Just what she needed after another miserable, fruitless day of searching. But it was soon interrupted.

The Apocalypse Diaries
It was your typical Tuesday afternoon. Everywhere around me, the sounds of college life buzzed as students rushed back and forth to their classes, completely unaware of the calamity that awaited them. Finals were upon us, and as our dean would put it, “Trends, relationships, and jobs would come and go, but GPA was forever.”

AN EXEMPLARY LIFE
My birth certificate reads "Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital-Indianapolis, Indiana, Date of Birth- September 14, 1950, Name- William Barker". My mother would later tell me that it was during a raging thunderstorm that I was born at 11:55 pm on that stormy Saturday evening. What a way to start the weekend! Maybe it was a harbinger of things to come.

Pirate Ophelia, Part 5
Continued from Part 4 Chapter XIII: Old Friends They had managed to gain a few more crew members after Janneke’s speech in the tavern. Tortuga was filled with pirates and those wanting to be pirates, allowing them to speak freely and recruit more crew for their ships. Janneke, Ophelia, and James were joined by Rose, Erik, and Edward to inspect the ships that were now part of Janneke’s fleet. James’s ship, a Spanish Galleon named Conquistador, was the largest in the fleet, though it’s size also made it the slowest. The rest of the fleet was made up of a mix of brigs and frigates, all of which were being reinforced to resist damage and equipped with more cannons. James and Liam funded much of the upgrades for the ships, hoping that their actions would eventually clear James’s name and allow him to live his life without being hunted.

Christmas Eve and the Golden Garland od Zeus
Chapter One "I don't mind telling you, I'm a little scared," stammered Noel. This was a most unusual statement for the little Sugar Plum Fairy to make. Noel had always been the brave one. She was what her fellow sugar plums liked to call "uncompromisingly feisty". Generally, it was Carol who was the most timid of the trio, though Holly had been known to get fearful from time to time, usually about things that were spiraling out of her control. Holly was all about maintaining control and a sense of order. But not Noel. Brave, fearless Noel, looking deceptively ladylike in her fairy dress of soft browns and deep, warm reds, with her kinky ebon-dark hair done up in two, big puff balls on either side of her impish head, was just as likely to be wrestling with a polar bear cub as flitting about adding glisten to snow crystals or sprinkling holiday scents of cinnamon and freshly baked cookies in the breeze or any of the other standard fairy pastimes.

Chapter four: The Force Guides Me
I hear the alert of the hyperdrive indicating we are approaching our destination and I head over to the cockpit, Darryl following closely behind. He flips a switch as he sits down in the pilot chair and we disengage from hyperspace, Lothal pulling up into view. There are grey clouds covering most of the planet but I can see blue from the oceans of water and greenish brown from the lands surrounded by it. A sudden burst of energy hits me, and I stumble back a little holding my head, grabbing the comm’s chair to keep myself from falling over. Darryl quickly comes over to me, placing his hand on my back.
