Her striking looks, with hair made of snakes and sharp teeth, made her a fearful and cursed creature, but things were not always like this. Medusa was once a beautiful woman who dedicated her life to serving the gods alongside her two immortal sisters. She lived in Athena's temple, who was the goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare. Athena, who was married to Poseidon, the god of the sea, had a secret love affair with Medusa. Poseidon was unable to resist Medusa's beauty, and the two of them had an affair in Athena's temple. However, this secret did not remain hidden for long. Athena found out about the affair and became so consumed by jealousy that she turned Medusa and her sisters into Gorgons, winged creatures with snake hair and terrifying faces. Medusa's beauty was replaced with an ugly appearance, and anyone who looked at her turned into stone.
