The Unending Storm
One more step. Now one more step. Another step, and one more step. Isaac could not do anything save repeat this phrase in his head. Heavy rain, hail, winds of unimaginable speed collided with his stubborn body with force enough to send him flying, but It would not happen this time, he was prepared. Knee-deep in snow, in a tattered robe, a mask of carbon fiber, and an insulated, skin tight bodysuit, Isaac trudged on. Despite the cold, which penetrated every inch of his armor, and the state of his bruised and battered body, he could not help but feel heroic as he moved ever so slowly forward.

2123: Crittenton, Florence
Crittenton, Florence She was hungry again. It was coming in waves. She was amazed at how much the meaning of this sensation had changed. When she was a teenager, she had reveled in hunger. It was a victory. God, that was so long ago. Now, she started to cry, silently, while she thought about any possible way that she could convince them to give her food. There was no guard to offer sex to. There was no food in this building to steal. And there was so little outside left to run to. She had no leverage. There was nothing of herself to offer up; there was nothing left of her they needed.

Orion's Locket
Orion idly fidgeted with the locket that lay on his chest. He had worn the simple gimmicky device for the better part of the last 5 years. Lucy had shown him the viral product that she found while scrolling her holos. It was a couple’s piece of jewelry that allowed you to faintly feel your partner’s heartbeat when worn. He remembered the day she had shown him as he pressed his thumb into the locket to create an imprint on his chest.

Obsolete
“Nicole?” I raised my head for what felt like the first time in months. Striding towards me was the most beautiful person in the world. And yet, she clearly wasn’t human. She wore no clothing for her body was flawlessly thin and supple. Her skin was chrome and white, her eyes too startlingly blue and much too large. They met my own, unblinking. Her lips parted in an effortless smile.

Mission Accomplished
Emma Two Feathers crouched behind a dumpster and studied the street in front of her. Her striking golden eyes were sharper than most people's, a gift of her heritage that went back generations. They were her father's eyes. It was almost cat-like and her mother used to say it made her eyes glow at night.

Old Lady's Purse
I love sunshine. The best days of my life have been spent at the beach. Nothing pulsed adrenaline through my veins the way a good wave could. That rush is addictive; it's an unforgettable event that brands its mark into the heaviest memories. Days on a surfboard are peacemakers, they calm the mental strife within a teenage mind. My first ride, at 14 years old, fired dormant neurons that pushed my muscles beyond their paygrade. A confidence bloomed within me; in an instant I became a legend of Neptune’s shores. Surfing forever attached my soul to mother ocean. Surfing forever attached me to her too, my love. We have been married now for 10 years, but it seemed like yesterday when she washed over my heart like a strawberry moon rising over the pines of Trent County. June was the best person I had ever met. Our connection was instant and unquestionable.
