I was working the beat, listening to the street. I found clues, the blues were playing, moving my feet. If I found out who did this, they were dead meat. I tracked down a suspect based on witness descriptions, it was neat. He demanded a lawyer and got a law firm, a whole fleet. “It was a doppelgänger, I swear,” he said without a care. I knew I trapped him in my snare. I interrogated him in the dark using only a flare. “We found your fingerprints,” I said and stared. We put him away, he yelled and blared.
