Old Fashioned Romance
I honestly cannot believe this is happening. It feels like someone exchanged my life with an old black-and-white romantic movie, and I play the main character. This whole experience feels so surreal to me. The rain falls outside my window as the train slowly takes me to my destination. My dress is long and pink, and I have a jean jacket to keep me warm. My auburn hair is up in a twisted braid around the bottom of my neck. In the seat next to me, I have a wooden suitcase filled with a weekend amount of clothes, a book, my diary, and my music player. As I said before, it's all somewhat surreal.

The Blushing Purple Princess
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. They look as though they are sparkling above as the lightning sparks through them. An ugly storm has lately been getting ready each night that looks like magic. Every magical tale can be explained by science. Magic is just the glitter or sugar that coats every part of how horrifying life can really be. We all need to coat everything in something, just like the sand before me to create a castle. There must be enough water that doesn’t dry to keep the castle together. Water is also the very thing that will wash the castle away later as the waves charge higher into it. I finish the mold of the castle right as my sister Gigi walks up behind me. “Helen, why are you creating a castle right now? We need to get inside and up. Don’t you see how the sky is warning us,” she points back to the beach house.

Ingraham, it had been in the possession of nine different government agencies, and inspected no less than fifteen times.

Underneath
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. The air crisp on my pale skin. I could not remember a time when the air was not piercing. The cold sang its beautifully sullen song every day, with no sign of becoming fatigued. It kept me on my toes. For here, if you place one wrong foot, you risk losing it. I had seen it happen many times, and never again will I not look down at my footing. There were brave ones who walked in groups; each week counting the casualties. There were those who didn't move at all, and those who only moved in a rhythmic pattern. Then there were those like me, lone wanderers. That is what they call us. The ones no one pays attention to. The ghosts. But whatever the role you chose, it didn't really matter. Because every night at midnight we all stopped, took a deep breath of bravery, and looked up. That one habitual act of reverence tied us all together, only moments before the clouds turned to a dark, looming green. The spell was broken, and we all went on our ways.

Date Justice
[Write a fiction story about a time traveler who tries to alter a historical event.] Natalia couldn’t remember how long she had been saving to finally afford to rent the time machine. She only had until the end of the month before she had to return the device, yet it had already been a week in her possession and she still hadn’t made her first time-jump. She was curled on the couch of her cozy Brooklyn apartment with a globe on her coffee table for ideas of where (and when) to go. Her planner was open to the current month, February, which happened to be her Birthday month, and why she had rented the device. But now, looking at the calendar, Natalia was suddenly furious. How could she not have taken into consideration that she rented the time machine during the shortest month of the year? A whole two to three days shorter than any other month. She would have to call the company to check if she could keep it for a full 30 days – unless… She frantically reached for the time machine, adjusted the dials, pressed the button, and held her breath.
