Love
The Price Of Elegance
Maree sat looking out at the lovely view from her balcony. A sort of grim nostalgic calm permeated her silent musing...how quickly time seemed to have passed. The realization dawned with a jarring pang of nostalgia - for with the thought came the reminder of the slowing down of her once mad dash into enjoying all the luxury that money had afforded her. She closes her eyes, inhaling the fragrance of the tea, and takes comfort in the gentle wind blowing from across the waters, welcoming her presence.

Unwritten on Their Graves. Content Warning.
In a cramped California apartment, eighteen-year-old Leo lived with his mother and two younger siblings, twelve year old Jasmine and eight year old Marcus. Their mother, a woman of quiet grit, had been left to raise them alone, scraping by on the meager wages of a diner job.Life had dealt her a harsh hand, and the family’s fragile balance was further shattered by Marcus’s battle with anemia. The medical bills drained what little they had, while the constant worry gnawed at them all. Leo watched his mother fight each day with unyielding determination, and though his heart burned to ease her burden, he was just a high school senior, too young, too powerless, yet aching to do more. To ease his mother’s burden, Leo had taken a part-time job at a local diner, slipping into an apron right after school while his classmates rushed off to sports or friends. Whether it was scrubbing greasy grills, bussing tables, or running orders, he did it all without complaint. The pay was barely enough to make a dent in their mounting expenses, yet Leo clung to it with quiet determination. Every shift was not only a reminder of his struggle, but also of his dream, a dream to rise above these barriers, and build a better life not just for himself, but for the people he loved most. One evening, as his mother returned from another long shift, Leo pulled her aside. His SAT results had arrived, good enough for college. Her tired face lit up with pride as she embraced him, certain her sacrifices were paying off. But Leo’s voice wavered as he confessed the catch: his scores weren’t high enough for a full scholarship, and he refused to drag the family deeper into debt. She pressed his shoulders, assuring him they would find a way and that he should focus on his future. Still, even as she smiled, Leo couldn’t ignore the worry lingering in her weary eyes. As graduation crept closer, Leo’s excitement was overshadowed by a growing weight of anxiety. The future loomed uncertain, with college slipping further from reach.

Even in Dreams. Runner-Up in The Shape of the Thing Challenge.
Despite living so close to an airport, we never stopped and truly appreciated the sight of the different passenger flights soaring into the sky. I remember vividly lying one day beside you, recently, watching the vapour trails as another steel bird left for adventures in faraway places.

The Weaver's Paradox
The old cabin by the lake hummed with the quiet symphony of a late autumn evening. Outside, the wind whispered secrets through the skeletal branches of ancient oaks, and the first tentative drops of rain tapped against the windowpanes. Inside, a fire crackled merrily in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the rustic walls. Elara sat curled in a large armchair, a half-read book forgotten in her lap, her gaze fixed on Liam, who was meticulously arranging a new log on the fire. Their silence was not empty, but full, woven with years of shared understanding and a love that had grown as steadily and deeply as the forest around them.

The Princess of Ireland – A Woman Who Fought with Love and Fire
The Princess of Ireland – A Tale of Love and Sacrifice The spring of 1972 carried both silence and uproar through the air of Ireland. Silence filled the streets where children no longer played, while uproar dominated the battlefields where the British army clashed with Irish freedom fighters. Every day, the rattling of bullets and the thundering of explosions reminded people that they were still chained in slavery, and the dawn of freedom was yet to come.

Hello, Again
Early evening, exactly 6pm. She knew this because she glanced at her phone. The clock tower behind her struck. Six, strong chimes, each more confident than the last. Then, finally, peace and quiet. The park resumed its normal, slow pace of life.

The Pizza That Called 911
The Pizza That Called 911 A Hilarious Tale of Cheese, Crust, and Chaos It all started on a Friday night when Jake Thompson decided to order pizza. Now, Jake wasn’t the kind of guy who cooked. The last time he boiled water, he set off the smoke alarm. The time before that, he burned cereal. (Yes, cereal. No one knows how.) So when it came to dinner, Jake had two options: microwave meals or pizza delivery.
