The Pit Stop
The overhead fluorescent buzzed, flickered, and then came on full. A moth flew from the windowsill, battered around the light a few times and then landed on it. No heat. Rachel had warned him that the mosquitoes swarmed up in the evening from the salt marshes around the cottage, so intense at night that the screened porch was the only place outside they could be avoided. But even here, miles inland, the shrill sounds of insects filled the night air, louder even than the buzzing light. Strange bird calls echoed from the pine forests around the marsh.

One Day With You
The morning light streams in through the curtains, illuminating your soft skin, giving it an ethereal glow. I watch the light dance across your back, tracing over the patterns it makes with my fingertips. I run them down your spine, in awe of the jolt of electricity coursing through my veins at the feel of your skin. I lean down to kiss your shoulder, moving your hair to the side so I can kiss you neck as I wrap an arm around you and run lazy circles on your tummy. As I feel you stir from your slumber, I pull you close to me. I whisper in your ear “good morning, my beautiful bee” and kiss your cheek. You turn around to face me, still pressed close against me. I move your hair away from your face, look into those beautiful eyes and tell you I love you. I move closer to kiss you, soft and sweet. I roll away from you to get out of bed. You ask where I’m going, a bit whiny. I tell you I’m going to make you breakfast and walk out of the room.

An Unfinished Story: Allie
I thought this was only happening in the stories I've read and movies I've watched. But now, here I was signing an agreement for our marriage with the man I called "crap." Yeah, a legal contract. With lots and lots of nonsense agreements. Why was I here in the first place? My loving grandmother just wanted me to get married to this man, whom she called the good-looking grandson of her best friend. Who's going to do this to their own grandchild? Oh right! Specifically, my grandmother. She even called me "dear" when I knew she never really cared about me. She cares more about the company. The company had been in the middle of a crisis, which is why she arranged for me to be in this situation. She lost her partnership with an international company because she let her secretary take care of everything, including the transactions that led to the downfall of her company. Her secretary stole the company's shares.

Texas Heat — Chapter 4
Her hesitation was brief. She skirted the desk and settled in the chair next to him, her movements graceful and unhurried. Quiet dignity surrounded her like armor and something else that intrigued him. It was in her eyes. A soul-deep sadness, as if she grieved for something. He shrugged it off, chalking it up to the fact that she'd lost her husband two years earlier.

You Hold The Ocean In Your Eyes
Jessie's favorite hangout spot in the small town of Cushing, Oklahoma happened to be the local pool. She weren’t a huge fan of swimming or wearing the outrageous swimsuits you’d see other girls in, but she’d go, spending most of her free time there when not in class since the background noise was relaxing and allowed her to draw peacefully. Jessie would use the people around her as motivation, making quick sketches here and there when something in particular caught her interest.
