Ghost human farm
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." There have been times where it was just the eyes that were flashing from behind the cabin. Red eyes. From deep inside the woods. A piercing gaze that had the entire magic forest in its grip. No one knew what it was. No one dared to approach to see wtf is going on. Until a day a hero is born.

from within us
THE CABIN IN THE WOODS had been abandoned for years, but one night a candle burned in the window. As I gazed through the thickness of leaves of trees over one hundred feet away on our own small wooded property, I realized that no one had been seen approaching the cabin on our webcams set around the five hundred foot perimeter of our campsite. The cabin was included in our "safe zone" because no one had been there, we would not be victims of what it held inside. But there it was... the candle, bright as day in the waning light of what remained of sunlight. The candle glimmered and cast shadows onto the outer wall of the cabin.

A trip to hell
"The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window." Harlow looked away from her pocket book and out the blurry window. Gray clouds had invaded the late golden air, replacing it with a depressing shade. Her eyes glanced at the small screen of her phone. No service. Oh the mountains!

Don’t close your eyes
”The cabin in the woods had been abondoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window.” Several years ago a bunch of pre-teens went camping overnight with a few chaperones to get the camping badge for scouts. The scouts program had girls in it as they were from a very small community so the cubs and girl guides joined forces. It was hard to get volunteers to commit to a 6 months program. Every year the group would walk into the bush to have competitions, learn how to make fires, learn survival techniques, learn how to read a compass and learn how to paddle a canoe. The program was a hit in the community and 10 kids showed up.

Frozen in Place
“The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window,” I started re-counting the story of what happened to my cousin Jake and me to our neighbors. The neighbors are family friends to our family for generations who owned a cottage to the left of our cabin, on Cold Water Lake in Pennsylvania. It was common for them to come over after dinner as we all sat around the roaring campfire with a great view of the lake and shoot the breeze. The smell of charred apple wood and smoke had always been my favorite aroma.
