The Only Thing That Stops a Bad Guy With a Gun Is a Dragon
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. It was a difficult decision to make, but we really had no choice, did we? We had to protect our children somehow. I understand why people might object. But it's just the way I was raised.

Faith in the Valley
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They once ruled the highest mountaintops. They soared freely through the skies and nested comfortably in their mountaintop lairs. Up close sightings of these majestic creatures in the valley were unheard of. Sadly, those days ended when a most vile sorceress, Gruzelda, changed all of our lives forever. She wielded the most powerful black magic any of us had ever witnessed before. She cast a spell, born from the depths of this evil darkness, banishing all of the dragons from atop the mountains to the valleys down below. They were powerless against her wickedness. We all were. Little did we know it, but banishing the dragons to the valley was merely the beginning of Gruzelda’s villainous tirade. Things vastly got worse than any of us could have ever imagined in a million years.

Flying Solo
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley.” The rasping voice drifted into the still night sky, delivering the story they knew so well to the occupants of Oakhollow. They were all seated on worn logs around the large communal fire, gathered in celebration to listen to the old tales. Though the air was chilly, the dancing flames gave off enough heat to warm the whole village - even the bones of the elderly, like the white-haired storyteller of Oakhollow who sat on a gnarled tree stump near the fire.

Black-Stone
Chapter 1: The Dragons Return. “THERE WEREN’T ALWAYS Dragons in The Valley.” I remember my Grandfather saying to me when I was a boy. When I was a boy, like most families in The Valley, we had a family-dragon; ours was called Erin. Like all the children of The Valley, my sister Maria and I attended The Mountain School, which was nestled in the foothills of The Great mountain range. It was very grand and looked much like an old castle, with turrets and large wooden doors. Erin used to fly Maria and me to school in the morning, and collect us after the bell rang in the afternoon.

Dewi and The Dragons of Pura Beji
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. In fact, there hadn't been any for a long long time until a Chinese tourist climbed into the forbidden inner sanctum of Dewi Kwan Im’s temple (the Chinese call her Kwan Yin), disturbing the goddess and waking the dragon guardians from their long sleep.

The Kingdom of Come Again?
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Nor, for that matter, were there any now. In fact, you could go up to just about any Valley dweller while they were going about on their merry business and ask them: “So, what of these dragons, eh?” And quite likely, they would scratch their nose and respond with something like: “What’s a dragon?” or “Come again, mate?”

The real dragons who will judge our stories
"There weren't always dragons in the Valley is what everyone is saying, Tlomeny, who are they getting all this information from, all these stories are making my head spin, is it...."? "Well let me just stop you right there missy. First of all, you all know nothing of dragons. Did you stop to consult a real dragon to get all the facts. Of course not, you all just took it upon your human heads and started spitting out a whole distorted confabulation of misinformation from here there and everywhere, it's enough to give us dragons nightmares for the rest of our lives".
