Her stomach didn’t hurt anymore. Maybe her head was even beginning to clear. She blinked, tried to focus on anything nearby. Was that a fluttering of wings she was hearing, perhaps an owl was swooping down to say hello—like the ones so often seen in the barn they would meet in after school…why wasn’t she in school—but it hurt too much to focus, and the fluttering was gone anyway. She closed her eyes back tight, and hoped that might make things better.

The Botanist

To her the city was tiresome and silly, people had left nature behind to focus on what made them feel alive, not what kept them alive. So she threw herself head first into her work, becoming acquainted with every plant she could.

Everyday I think about them. I often see them. She talks to me and blame me for what I did. I am a murderer of two people. It was around 10 pm, me and my friends went for born fire and campaigning. We all were drunk and had a stupid idea to go for swim in a lake which was nearby. Most of us were good swimmers except one, 'Sam'. He was being coward to splash in the lake. So, I pushed him from behind. We had no idea, how deep water was. He started panicking and drowning. We all laughed at his condition. When he couldn't make it. We went inside to search for him. May be it was too late.

The Magical Bird
When Abraham was younger, his father always used to tell him a bed time story about a magical bird that lived in a forest, far from their village called “The Scarlet Macaw”. Hundreds of years ago, this bird was known for healing those who have been extremely ill, & even bringing some back to life! The story intrigue Abraham and he refused to sleep until hearing the story every night. As the years went by, Abraham grew older and eventually outgrew bedtime stories. When Abraham reached the age of 16, his father grew extremely ill. He was taking to the best of the villages doctors, but they all said the same thing, there was nothing they could do to help him. Abraham and his family were left hopeless and were ready to give up. One night Abraham had a strange dream of a magical bird, calling him to come to the forest. When he woke up he immediately told his family the news and his mom refused to let him go. “The forest is extremely dangerous she said” and no one has even heard of the magical bird for hundreds of years”. Abraham did not care. All he had in his mind was finding that bird and hoping it’s healing powers would heal his fathers sickness. That same night Abraham snuck out of his village and journeyed to the forest. He traveled for 2 days nonstop before reaching the forest. As soon as he walked in he felt the danger that awaited him. Seems as if his father failed to mention that the forest was full of black glowing birds with huge wings. At first he thought they were dragons. Though Abraham was scared he knew there was no going back. He couldn’t imagine life without his father. The forest was huge. After traveling for hours Abraham found a huge tree with a big enough hole in the bottom for him to rest for a bit.

Jimmy and the Ancient One
Little Jimmy ran through the downpour back to his mother and thirty-two siblings. He lives underneath an old abandoned canoe near a riverbank on the Native American Reservation. Jimmy had a large pink nose and whiskers that strung out on each side of his face, a long tail, and a thick fur coat. His eyes were yellow and he ran on all fours. Jimmy is a mouse, a field mouse, and he and his family spend every day scrounging for food, and avoiding eagles and other birds that share the territory. Jimmy is 6 months old, middle-aged for his kind. He is the oldest of all his siblings, and his parents are each 12 months, on the doorstep of death. Jimmy only sleeps a few hours each night. The stress of how he is going to feed himself and his siblings always weighs heavy on his shoulders, not to mention the constant fear of being snatched up at any moment by birds. On a cold morning, Jimmy's dad called for him. He coughed and told Jimmy that in order to keep his family alive, he must learn the secrets of the fields.
