Katie and Dave

"I'll just go and put that washing on and tidy the kitchen." Christine gets up in between TV programmes, leaving Katie and Dave together.

Katie shifts uneasily in her seat as she doesn't like being alone with her dad anymore. Dave is twitchy himself tonight and is having a beer midweek which is unheard of.

Katie's way of dealing with the tension between them is to avoid being alone with him and so, she picks up her book and decides to hang out in her bedroom.

She doesn't see that her phone falls off the cushion as she stands but Dave does.

Dave and Katie

Dave waits until Katie has left and listens out for Christine moving in the kitchen. He can't believe his luck but he doesn't want to get caught. He'd rather be straight up but life doesn't ever seem to be throwing him the right cards to play honestly.

He's torn: sit and lose the opportunity to see what's on Katie's phone or get up and look?

It takes him a second to decide and with great caution, he bends, picks up the phone. He fumbles over the passcode but he knows his daughter and accesses it.

He is surprised and scared by what he finds.

Dave

Katie and Bethan. Texting. Shit! How? Is this some sort of conspiracy? I don't know what's going on but they've exchanged days of texts all centred around Katie being worried and Bethan asking how she is. This has got to do with me. It's got to be. What else could it be? Has Katie joined with Bethan to attack me? Have they met and if so, how?

I don't know what to do with this. I don't know what to do with this!

What is going on?

Katie and Dave

Katie puts her book down to look at her phone. Not here. She remembers where she had it last - in the lounge.

When she enters the room, her phone is on the chair she sat in. On the right arm, close to her dad. Katie knows she would never leave it there.

Dave’s life is about to fall apart, I’m afraid. He had it coming, though. It’s nice to see Christine written in a little more. Did she know Dave was married when he was “dating” her?

I really don't like Dave. I hope he gets his comeuppance soon. Fab writing Rachel.

Dave, Dave, Dave! You better grab another beer, I think.

  • Cindy Calderabout a year ago

So suspenseful! One thing remains the same: Dave is truly a louse and most likely at the heart of all these things.

Dave keeps sinking lower and lower in my eyes. And it appears from the comments I'm not the only one with a growing distaste for him! Ready for some comeuppance

Cathy is right ! Oh dear indeed. Dave is the one thoroughly bad actor in this story. What will he do! 😳
