Sugar the Elf's Chocolate Pretzels

Let's get dunking!

By Mandy JoPublished 4 years ago โ€ข 3 min read

Sugar the Elf has snuck into Mrs. Claus' kitchen. She is finding all kinds of goodies and is not sure what she wants to make. Opening all the cupboards Sugar finds a big bag of pretzel rods. She thinks to herself, "These would be fun to dip. What else can I find?"

Finally, Sugar opens a cupboard that has all of Mrs. Claus' baking goodies. Pretty colors of red and green fill the shelves. Bags and bags of chocolate chips. Sugar gets excited and starts jumping up and down seeing all the items. She places the following on the counter:

  • 1 bag of chocolate chips
  • 1 bag of pretzel rods
  • green sugar
  • red sugar
  • 1 bag of mini chocolate chips
  • 1 bag of shredded coconut
  • 1 bag of crushed peanuts
  • nonpareils

Continuing her hunt through the cupboards, she finds Mrs. Claus' cooking equipment for the chocolate covered pretzels, which is the following:

  • double boiler (you can use a bowl that fits on top of a pot)
  • bowls to put all the toppings in
  • multiple cookie sheets
  • wax paper
  • rubber spatula

Sugar the Elf has everything spread out in the kitchen. She gets to decorating the pretzels.

Step 1 - Sugar lays out the cookie sheets and places the wax paper over them.

Step 2 - She puts the chocolate in the double boiler, turns on the stove top to a medium heat and melts it.

Step 3 - Next she snapped the pretzel rods in half.

Step 4 - Dipping the broken end into the chocolate, she makes sure that the excess runs off. Using a rubber spatula to help even out the chocolate.

Step 5 - Sugar places the chocolate covered pretzel on the wax paper.

Step 6 - Quickly she sprinkles it with colored sugar.

Step 7 - She works through the pretzels with various toppings until the cookie sheet is covered.

Step 8 - Next is to start another cookie that is covered in wax paper.

Step 9 - After all the pretzels are covered and decorated Sugar places them into the refrigerator. (If you need to stack them up, be sure to place wax paper on top of the pretzels.

At the end of the bag of pretzels there was left over chocolate. Sugar scurried around the cupboards to find a pan to put the extra chocolate into it. She put that pan in the refrigerator as well. Can't waste any of that chocolatey goodness. Before cleaning she licks the chocolate off the rubber spatula.

Sugar the elf quickly gets to cleaning up her mess while she is waiting for the chocolate covered pretzel rods to hardened. Returning to the cupboards, she looks for containers to put the pretzels in. She found one! It's a nice rectangular one.

The time is going by slowly, so Sugar gets out some stuff to make a different recipe while she is waiting for the chocolate covered pretzel rods to harden.

Sparkle the elf enters the kitchen to see what Sugar is making. She opens the refrigerator, "Hey, you have been busy. These look good."

"Leave those alone Sparkle. They aren't ready yet."

Mrs. Claus walks in, "What kind of treats are you working on Sugar?"

"Chocolate covered pretzel rods."

"Awesome. It's almost time for break out in the shop. The other elves would love those. Are they ready?"

Sugar walks over to the refrigerator, "Let's see!"

"Yes! They are done!" She exclaims as she pulls them out and places them on the counter.

Mrs. Claus moves the rectangular container next to the sheets of pretzels, "Let's put them in here. I'll take them out to the other elves and let them know you made them.

She takes the container and walks out to the shop floor. Sugar and Sparkle follow her.

After pulling the cord on the break cord, the working elves stop what they are doing and rush over to Mrs. Claus.

"This snack is chocolate covered pretzel rods and Sugar made them for you all. Enjoy!"
