Stepping into the tiny booth there was a glass separating myself from a lady that doesn't in fact look like an attorney at all. Instead she looked like one of those Instagram models. Very pretty, smooth mocha skin, curvy, and captivating hazel brown eyes. She was drop dead gorgeous with her bundles swaying to the side of her 3 piece Givenchy Coutoure beige suit. She was absolutely stunning. Made me wish even harder that this wasn't me in factsitting on this side of the glass.

"Ms. Jessup?" She asked me while standing to politely greet me with a smile. The way my souls been feeling lately, there wasn't an inch of a smile in me. Not with the idea of my in here and lately every time someone wants to see me my presence has to be presented in this little...box!

"Yes," was my only response while sitting down

"Your husband, is he..? Deondre.." she asked while flipping through papers in a folder.

No answer..

"Well he's hired me on to take your case Ms. Jessup, and we want to have you out. You have a hearing set for.. oh, and My name is Denise Alexandrea." She held up a business card to hand to the CO the hand to me on the other side of the glass.

Still, no answer from me.. Can't believe nothing till I see it. Looking over her business card, it would be no time before her number would be memorized.

We shared a brief stare and she continued her spill.

"According to the police report here," she continued her flipping, "you refused to give a statement or speak to the detectives which is good for you, the both of you."

"What do you mean?" I asked her not understanding her referring to the both of us.

"Well the police suspect that Deondre shot a girl outside a neighborhood not far from where you live. The victim is.." she continued her flipping..."Nyisha Flood."

My heart collapsed to my stomach. Nyisha used to be our neighbor but moved when she got too involved with my brother. My brother got back with his kids mother and Nyisha couldn't stand the sight of them together visiting our home, so she moved. But why would Deondre have shot her...and in her neighborhood. My confusion didn't lead me to ask this questions out loud, but my face must told on me.

"Do you know Ms. Nyisha Flood Ms. Jessup?" Ms. Alexandrea asked me.

"No?"

"You do know there's a such thing as attorney client privilege so..."

"I said no, ma'am, " I replied softly.

"Ok" she said dropping her head to scan over her notes, "well your hearing has indeed been pushed up to tomorrow, if you or Mr. Deondre have any more questions feel free to call me tonight.. Other than that We'll be seeing each other tomorrow in court room 8710."

"Ok." After she stood to leave and waved goodbye there was a guard at the door ready to take my back to my cell. But before that, there was a phone that needed to made.. what were the chances he was going to tell me the truth on these phones anyway but That didn't stop me from calling.

"Hello?" he answered.

"Hey, What are y'all doing?" I asked with a smile in my eyes. It was pure joy to hear the kids were screaming to the top of their lungs, laughing and playing.

"Nothing much," Deondre answered. "your brother's here wearing these kids out..so they can go to SLEEP?" He replied with a light chuckle.

"My attorney came, " I quickly told him immediately thinking of Nyisha at the mention of my brother.

"Yeah she just sent an email saying your hearing is tomorrow. So we'll just see you then.. Yeah sis see you tomorrow, " my brother shouted in the background.

What's got these fools smiling and laughing and I'm in here hurting like hell missing my babies. Deondre rushed me off the phone like he always does while in here.. After talking to the babies and crying hearing them say simultaneously "love you mommyyyy" it was time for a shower, and bed. My spirit couldn't handle anymore. It was alone time. The women in the pod had a few questions, inviting me to eat and play cards. It was as if they weren't even there, the way I kept my stride to my cell, to my shower, and back to my cell. My eyes were heavy with tears looking at pictures of the kids, thinking of tomorrow, thinking of Nyisha. This was too much.... what was going on ? And why does it feel like I'm drowning ..submerged under water..?

Instead of tears, instead of my family, my mind shifted to music.. yeah, a song. A song would definitely stop the tears for a moment before the tears would sink me in the pillow.. Earth wind and fire! My mind was filled with music. Now standing, twirling, and singing Happy Feeling. It wasn't long before I was now stretched on the floor, arms wide, legs spread, tired, eyes closing.. for the night this time...
