Story of Lily

She is one of us

By King WongPublished 3 years ago 3 min read
Sometimes life is like…

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Lily who lived in a small town with her parents. Lily's family was poor, and her parents struggled to make ends meet. But despite their financial struggles, they were a happy family, and they always found ways to make the most of what they had.

Lily had a passion for music, and she would often sing and play the guitar for her family and friends. She dreamed of becoming a famous musician one day, and her parents always encouraged her to pursue her dreams.

One day, Lily's parents got into a terrible car accident. They were rushed to the hospital, but their injuries were too severe, and they both passed away. Lily was devastated. She had lost her entire family in an instant, and she didn't know how to go on.

With no other family members to turn to, Lily was forced to leave her hometown and move to the city to live with her aunt. Her aunt was kind to her, but she was also struggling financially, and Lily felt like a burden. She missed her parents terribly, and she couldn't imagine a life without them.

Despite her sadness, Lily tried to continue pursuing her passion for music. She would sing and play her guitar every day, hoping that someone would hear her and give her a chance to make it big. But the city was a tough place, and there were so many talented musicians trying to make it.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Lily was working odd jobs to make ends meet, but she still couldn't afford a proper guitar. She was using a beat-up old one that her parents had given her when she was a child. It was missing a few strings, and the sound was terrible, but Lily refused to give up on her dream.

One day, Lily heard about a talent show that was being held in the city. The winner would get a record deal and a chance to make it big. Lily knew that this was her chance, and she practiced every day for weeks to prepare for the audition.

The day of the audition arrived, and Lily was nervous but excited. She arrived at the venue and waited in line for hours, watching as other musicians performed. Finally, it was her turn to take the stage.

Lily walked up to the microphone, guitar in hand, and began to sing. She poured her heart and soul into the song, and the audience was captivated. When she finished, there was a moment of silence, and then the crowd erupted into applause.

Lily was thrilled. She knew that she had given it her all, and she was sure that she would win. But when the judges announced the winner, it wasn't her. It was someone else, someone with a flashy stage presence and a polished sound.

Lily was crushed. She had put everything she had into that audition, and it wasn't enough. She felt like a failure, like all of her dreams had been dashed in an instant. She left the venue, tears streaming down her face, and walked aimlessly through the city.

As she walked, she passed by a music store. She stopped and looked in the window, and there, sitting on a stand, was the most beautiful guitar she had ever seen. It was shiny and new, with all six strings intact. Lily knew that she could never afford it, but she couldn't help but dream about what it would be like to play it.

Lily continued to walk, lost in her sadness and despair. She didn't notice the car that was speeding down the street, and she didn't hear the screech of brakes as it skidded to a stop. The last thing she saw was the beautiful guitar in the music store window, and the last thing she felt was the impact of the car as it struck her.

Lily died instantly, her dreams of becoming a musician forever lost. Her aunt and the small town where she grew up mourned her passing, but the city moved on, indifferent to the loss of yet another young life.

And in the music store window, the beautiful guitar remained, untouched and unplayed, a symbol of the dreams that had been cut short and the sadness that had taken hold.
