I sit at my desk at Leigh's Incorporated, where I work in secret protecting the government's secret officers. Nobody knows what we do here; it is top secret. If anybody in the outside world knew what we did, we would be at risk of cloning, theft, and murder. We have a strict company policy, stating the following:

"Everyone who works here must work in top-secret. This means, our employees must be given secret identities in order to protect themselves and the company from harm.

Signed,

Leigh's inc.

I had just switched on my computer, when the loud shrill of the intruder alarm echoed all around me, and all around the building. The computer finally fired up. However, instead of the usual password log-in page; I was faced with a notification that flashed in big red letters across my screen. It read:

"WARNING: INTRUDER ALERT!"

My computer suddenly shut down, and it locked, leaving me unable to start it again. I tried paging Mr. Jeffs, my boss; though all I got was a blank tone. The doors in our building were fitted with an automatic locking system, which meant that they would only lock if an intruder had entered the building. The automatic locking system was fitted with laser detectors that scanned hand prints and fingerprints of anybody attempting to unlock the doors.

However, the system knew it wasn't me because I was already in the room, and I couldn't have entered this room without being identified on the system first.

I tried opening my door, though it had automatically locked and refused to budge.

My only conclusion was that there was an intruder in the building.

I waited and tried again. I then ran over to the computer in a frantic effort to try and reset it. If I could enter the system, I'd be able to reset the biometrics and identification systems which would then allow me to at least escape the room. I had no joy; the system had completely shut down.

I located the override key which was located in a high-security box underneath my table. I knew the code so I put the key in the door, and tried entering the code.

I had no joy.

Suddenly, the alarms sounded in all four of the other offices.

"Shit!" I whispered to myself.

Four alarms meant that there must be an intruder in all four offices, which means that Mr.Leedon, Mrs. Jonson, Mr. Abraham, and Mrs. Lees, were not in their offices.

I know they were working with me tonight though; so why are they not in their offices?

We have a rule when it comes to security at our work. We had to work in teams of five because we could be faced with some very dangerous people and circumstances at any one time. There are not many people who can break through our security, so my only conclusion is that it has to be somebody on the inside, who knows how our system works.

This can only mean one thing; our security system has been tampered with by somebody who works here.

I attempt to use the phone. I need to get the police here, now! However, to my disappointment; even the phones don't work. The bastard intruders have obviously cut the phone lines, so nobody can call for help.

I hear footsteps outside my office.

I have to hide, though there aren't many hiding spaces in this small office, so I dive into the stationary cupboard; locking the door behind me. The intruders make small talk, and I can hear one say:

"I know the memory card is in here."

I now understand they are trying to access the computer's database, which we save on a special memory card because it contains a list of serial numbers that we input into the security system. These numbers enable us to keep the secret imprints of everyone who works here safe, so that if anything goes wrong with the system; we can identify everyone who works here.

The question remains: What do they want with it?

You'll find out in my next chapter, coming soon...
