The Invisible Hand has been abducting woman. Young, indigenous woman. They are reported missing, and many are found too late, murdered. Those empowered to protect the people are not paying attention, so the indigenous tribes came together in the greatest gathering ever known. Seven days of ceremony, fasting, chanting, dancing, and praying, they called forth the spirit world of all animals and creatures, and their prayer was granted. If you were of strong heart and purposeful need, you could transform into your spirit animal; you could become, Spirited.
. . .
They pulled his sister, Elu, into the white van. Her doll horse, given to her by her brother, Kaga, dropped outside the door that swung with a clunk close, and tires squealed against the dirt road, as the tires found their traction and began to sped away.
Kaga was inside but heard Elu's scream, and came running to the house's screen window just in time to see his sister being abducted. He begun running after her, sand flung over the doll horse he had given her. He was loosing sight of the van as it sped down the dirt road, but this was his sister, and he wouldn't stop running.
"No," kaga protested to the air. "No."
Time quickened to slow motion. Running beside him, his spirit animal, and the chant of the elders filled the space around them, and a red hand merged their bodies together. His eyes sparked with power. His breathing incredibly deepened. His head and body leaned forward. His arms became powerful legs, and muscles bulged taking him into a gallop as his long black hair flew behind him as a horse's mane.
A red hand imprint on his left shoulder. Power to get his sister. The power of being SPIRITED.
