I woke up early and grabbed my morning coffee!
Downstairs my clothing shop was waiting with all of my exciting new items. My dream on owning a boutique in Florida had finally come true and better yet, my followers loved my bold pastel floral designs.
Sales were raising at a rapid pace.
I came down my stairs to my shop below and stop for a moment to breath the salty ocean air and glory in the
bright warm sunshine. At one section I saw dark clouds station over the blue peaceful ocean displaying the usual threat of the daily dramatic tropical storm looming on the horizon.
Growing up in a small country town in Kansas where the dusty air and dry lands ruled the area in contrast this was so much more refreshing and alive.
I waited in pleasant anticipation for the fantastic rain each day.
I love watching the classy ladies came in my shop casually accepting the rain as a part of their way of life.
Also I would get a rush from seeing the expensive cars zooming down the boulevard rushing to get to who know where, splashing water everywhere.
Then as though it never happened the sun would comes out usually just in time to end the day sinking down into floating colorful clouds disappearing into the ocean.
I had just unlocked my shop’s door when I saw Jim who owned the shop next to mine wave at me.
He stood in front of his shop of lovely gemstones that he had traveled all over the world to collect. A gorgeous gemstone painting sparkled from the reflection of the sunlight that he had got in South America proudky displaying in his shop’s window.
He was the first person. To welcome me to the neighborhood and he has turned out to be someone i enjoyed talking to and someone I knew I could trust as a friend.
He bellowed out, not caring who else might be listening
Are you going tonight?
Tonight - I paused then remembered I had promise to go to a party that he had invited me ti go that was given by one of his friends.
Don’t tell me you have changed your mind? He asked with a frown on his face.
Why no of course I’m going, I found myself saying with a forced smile.
Good! See you there. I promise you will have a good time!
I manage to smile back at him as I went into my shop and closed the door.
I thought to myself It was the last thing I wanted to do., go to some lame party.
I enjoy my evenings alone curled up reading a book or watching tv, but perhaps he was was right I thought to myself, I should live a little more active life, and come out of my protective shell and go out to meet people.
Jim I thought was handsome and a good conversationalist but there just wasn’t any chemistry between us not even a sizzle other than a trusting friend.
The party was outside by the ocean with a live band with lots of excited happy people in bathing suites and summer outfits dancing laughing.and having a great time.
Torches surrounded the many table s and everyone was talking loud trying to be louder than the groovy music blasting from the band.
A boat pulled up to the dock beside the party area. It was small and white but big enough for the several people who got off.
They went to the dance floor with drinks already in hands taking over boldly with the latest dance steps.
. Then a handsome man tall well built with wavy black hair and hazel eyes got off the boat.
There was something about him that wouldn’t allow me to stop watching his every move.
He was alone and found a seat at a table by himself.
His eyes found hers. It was though an invisible electric charge was vibrating between them. I couldn’t turn away.
A slow romantic slow song came from the band and he walked slowly over to me and put his hand out asking me to dance with him and I without any hesitation put my hand in him.
It felt like I had always dreamed it would feel when you met the Mr. Right! We floated across the dance floor and I surrendered in his strong arms.
Then a fast song with a groovy beat began to vibrate from the band.
The music made me want to move and let go. As I danced I loved the way he looked and most of all the way he watched her as I moved to the music. Then we took the floor and the other gathered around us clapping as we move in perfect rhythm.
Afterwards laughing he
walked me back to my table.
Then the people from the boat began going back to board and he turned and looked at me. His eyes held mine with unspoken words of admiration. Then he turned and left and watched me as the boat floated away.
That night I dreamed we were together holding hands and kissing. My cat jumped in my bed and woke me up.
I was sorry it was just a dream.
I felt I would never see him again but he was the type of man I held in my heart and always dream of being with one day!
Florida was a wonderful place to live except for the hurricanes.
It was all over the news of the approaching storm. I had the shop boarded up and decided to ride it out at Jim’s with a crowd of others at a hurricane party. He climbed his house had weathered many storm.
The wind wildly blew my hair long red hair everywhere as I fought to keep it out of my eyes, putting my shoe case in my car.
Then when I stopped for a red light a car rammed me from behind and my airbag came out. I was just sitting there too shock to even move.
A policeman was close by and before I knew it i was taken to the hospital.
Resting in a bed a Dr. came in to check me over.
When I looked up into those hazel eyes I was in total shock.
To my pleasant surprise it was the stranger i had danced with at the party.
They both looked at each other in amazement and smiled.
He said, with a smirk on his face, I believe we have met somewhere before-
Maybe many lifetimes-
I smiled back at him replying
Yes I do believe that could be possible.
He looked tenderly at me and said, Your test were all negative, but I must suggest you stay the night for it a little dangerous outside.
I looked out the window at the rain pouring down and the trees bending over from the gale force winds and objects flying wildly in the air.
He saw the frighten look in my eyes so he took my hand and held it gently don’t worry he said I’m here now.
Why don’t you meet me in the cafeteria for coffee and as soon as I can get away I will join you.
Then a nurse came in to let him know he was needed for another patient so he turned to give me a warm smile before he rushed out the door.
It all felt so surreal . I had never been in an accident before or a hurricane . Yet I felt secure—was it because of him? I knew in my heart that it was!
I felt like I had found home.
I got dress and found the cafeteria . There were not many people there just a group of Dr. having conversations and coffee.
He rushed in dressed in his white coat and sat next to me taking both my hands in
his. He began to exclaim,
I don’t know about you but ever since I met you I couldn’t stop thinking about you and I kept beating myself up each day for not getting your phone number but fate or the gods have brought us together again and this time I’m not going let this moment go by—
He paused and put his arm around me speaking softly- I believe you are my soul mate - I have never felt this strongly about anyone - especially someone that I just met.
Tell me you feel the same his eyes begging looked deeply into mine.
I looked into his penetrating hazel eyes. The joy of hearing his confession had sent thrilling sensations all over my body.
I replied, I feel the same
My darling he said.
His kiss stop what ever more I was going to say - and the wind banging against the building, the sounds of others talking melted into a distant tunnel and all I wanted was to stay in his arms forever.
We moved to a sofa in a waiting room and he put a blanket over meas I slept in his arms.
He would leave to do his duty and come back to hold me and I knew he was afraid like I was that this was a dream and we both didn’t want to lose it or ever wake up.
The next day the storm had pasted but for us it was just the beginning!
A year later we exchanged our marriage vows on a sunny day at the end of a dock underneath a flowered arch surrounded by family and friends.
The reception was inside a hotel overlooking the ocean with walls made of glass. As we danced our first dance he held me tightly.
lightening was flashing and wind and rain was pouring down outside. It felt like the universe was celebrating with us !
Floating away waving at everyone on our flowered decked out hatch headed to our vacation home in the Bahamas his as his lips found mine and I knew I had found my soul mate!
