The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. At least that's what the people say in Na'veen. I never understood that phrase until I got older. The queen Ruby had vanished one day- well, let's face it she was killed by believe it or not her own daughter Mardriel.

My parents became broke and we got cold, we ate less and it was all thanks to her, nothing was right. Queen Ruby was kind, generous and was often found among us commoners, she had a heart and was willing to work with anyone. Mardriel, however was selfish, cold and she used black magic. Anywhere she walked mist of black would follow her from under her gown; the grass would turn to ash and any plant she touched would tarnish and wither. She raised the taxes and many of us lost our homes, my sisters and me had to go to work and quit schooling. We learned how to hunt and my parents still worked at the bakery, but their hours became longer than expected. My sisters and me learned to hunt so we would trade it for other food as money was scarce.

Mardriel really wiped us out, she had a black carriage and some even tried to assassinate her with no luck. However, hopeless it seemed there was still a glimmer of hope that stayed with Queen Ruby's son, you see Queen Ruby had another child years after Mardriel and his name was Solace. Once Queen Ruby was killed Mardriel's followers had searched the kingdom for the child, but no one found him. He was taken to a far off place called Earth by a World Jumper. World jumpers have a rare and extraordinary ability to jump from one world to another. The Earth Jumper took solace to earth and when the earth jumper named Galavant had returned, he was struck down by Mardriel and now a statue was made of him in the very forest where he perished a noble death, she wanted him to be a reminder of what should happen to you should you disobey to her law. The statue of Galavant is on his knees screaming out in pain as a rod stuck out of him. He still stands there to this day. We are all hoping that someone will find Solace and bring him back from Earth and he will defeat her and bring back the peace that used to be in Nav'een. However, Mardriel had ordered that all Earth Jumpers be prosecuted and killed once identified, how did Mardriel know? She created a concotion that would knock out anyone with magic in them, Mardriel threw a feast that everyone would have to attend and anyone not in attendance would be slaughtered. She poisoned the food with the special potion and soon some people were face down in their food, those were immediately dragged away to be killed on the spot, blood poured everywhere and that day is known to us for the day of The Spill. We all wear red to remember those that were lost. We all remember the blood shed that happened…we needed Solace to come back. People counted down the days once he was of age because that’s when his powers would show and he would be able to defeat the so-called queen and he could take the rightful place as king and he would save us all. The only issue is that we needed a jumper to get him back here, and he could be evil or convinced by Mardriel that she needed to be queen, but things could not be much worse than they were right?
