Snowbound Nightmare

Z3

By James GreenPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

The snow had been falling for hours, blanketing the landscape in a thick white layer. Despite the wintry weather, Jane was excited for the weekend getaway at the cabin. She had always loved the peace and solitude of being surrounded by nature, and with the holiday season fast approaching, she was looking forward to getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

As she drove up the winding mountain road, Jane couldn't help but feel a sense of foreboding. The trees seemed to close in around her, their branches heavy with snow and ice. She tried to shake off the feeling, reminding herself that it was just her imagination getting the best of her.

When Jane finally arrived at the cabin, she was relieved to find that it was even cosier than she had imagined. She quickly unpacked her bags and settled in, building a fire in the fireplace to chase away the chill.

As the flames danced and crackled, Jane found herself getting lost in thought. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about this place. It was as if the cabin was alive, watching her every move.

The next morning, Jane woke up to find that the snow had stopped falling and the sun was shining brightly. She decided to take a walk through the woods to clear her head and enjoy the peace and quiet.

As she walked, Jane couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She turned around to see if anyone was there, but the woods were empty. She told herself it was just her imagination and continued on her walk.

When Jane returned to the cabin, she found that someone had left a note on the kitchen table. It read: "Welcome to the cabin. I hope you enjoy your stay. - Your host."

Jane was confused. She thought she was the only one staying at the cabin. She wondered if the note was some kind of joke, but something about the handwriting seemed familiar.

That evening, Jane heard strange noises coming from outside the cabin. She peered through the window and saw a figure moving through the trees. She couldn't make out who it was, but she felt a creeping sense of dread wash over her.

She tried to tell herself that it was just an animal, but she couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more sinister at play.

The next day, Jane woke up to find that all of her belongings had been moved. Her clothes were no longer in the dresser and her toiletries were no longer in the bathroom.

She searched the cabin, but everything was in its proper place. It was as if her things had vanished into thin air.

As the day wore on, the strange occurrences continued. Jane would turn around to find objects out of place, or hear whispers when no one was there. She began to wonder if she was losing her mind.

One night, Jane woke up to find someone standing at the foot of her bed. She froze, unable to move or speak. The figure leaned down and whispered, "I've been watching you."

Jane screamed and the figure vanished. She sat up in bed, her heart racing. She had to get out of this place.

The next morning, Jane packed up her things and fled the cabin. As she drove away, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. She knew she had to go back and confront whatever was causing these strange occurrences.

When Jane returned to the cabin, she found that it was empty. She searched every room, but there was no sign of anyone else. She began to wonder if she had imagined everything.

But as she turned to leave, she saw a flash of movement out of the corner of her eye. She turned to see a figure standing in the doorway, watching her.

"Who are you?" Jane demanded.

The figure stepped forward, revealing a gaunt, pale face. "I am the host of this cabin," the figure replied in a voice that sent chills down Jane's spine. "I have been watching you this whole time."

Jane's heart raced as she realised the truth. She had been trapped in a nightmare, conjured up by the twisted mind of her host.

But she wasn't about to let this madman win. With a burst of determination, Jane lunged forward and tackled the host to the ground. They struggled for what felt like an eternity, but in the end, Jane emerged victorious.

Breathless and shaken, she fled the cabin and never looked back. She knew she would never forget the snowy weekend getaway that had nearly cost her everything.
