He was tired of never getting picked for hockey. He thought maybe if he sold his soul to the man he would get picked. It was worth a shot. He wrote a letter to the man and signed it stating he was giving his soul to be the best at hockey. The next day it worked. He snaked through the line and deked all opponents. He was always chosen first for hockey. Until the day the man collected his soul. He turned into a snake.

The Heavens
Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. This was how he saw the world when he dreamt. Jed would day dream and see the world how he wanted it. An escape from the harsh world. He was twenty four and should have outgrown his imagination by now, yet it seemed to grow every day. When he was a young boy he had dared his twin brother to swim across the pond and back. His brother drowned and he could not forgive himself. Armed with his plush toy he walked to the pond imagining what dreams his brother must be having. Was he in heaven? Did angels lift him up and feed him with honey kisses like in fairy tales? Jed sat on a rock by the pond. He laid the plush toy near the pond and recited a prayer. He then closed his eyes.

Wild Card Weekend Recap: What Happens Now?
I think I figured out why I love Wild Card Weekend so much. It's because it's the first playoff anything of the calendar year. The NFL season starts in the fall, and once upon a time, the champion was crowned either on or slightly before New Year's. The evolution of the NFL schedule has resulted in the playoffs starting just into the New Year, and currently, the final week of the season falls on the first weekend of the New Year, with Wild Card Weekend coming a week after that. So yes, chronologically, the NFL's Wild Card Weekend serves as the first playoff anything of the calendar year.
