Simple Brown Paper Project
An Anniversary Suprise
It was the morning of their anniversary. She woke up early in the morning to breakfast in bed. Waiting on the table next to her was a small present wrapped in brown paper with writing all over the paper. There was a card. She read the card to see what it said and who it was from? It was from her husband of ten years. He had just gotten home from prison the year before.
To the love of my life. My queen. My wife. My soul mate. My best friend. I can not believe it has been ten year since we said I do. I have put you through so much in these ten years as husband and wife. Even when I was an asshole in a state prison, You never left my side. You never wavered. You are so strong. I could never tell you how much it meant to me that you have stayed by my side, while I was on the inside and since I have been home. The last year has been hard for us to readjust to life out here. And more so for you and me to adjust to having a marriage like everybody else. I bet you do not even care that I leave dirty socks on the floor. Thank you for being my rock, my best friend, My support. Thank you for being the mother of my children. Thank you for being my wife. I love you always and forever. Your husband.
PS. I hope you enjoy our anniversary baby. I have a lot of them to make up for.
Reading her card she started to tear up. He was not usually very romantic. Not like he was in the beginning of the relationship and he did not show his softer romantic side often. It had been a long time since he had written her a poem or a song. Or just really did something sweet for her. And he had a lot of anniversaries to make up for.
So, she thought to herself. Will I have a good anniversary this year? Or will I be let down like the nine years before? She sighed. She decided to eat her breakfast. A good present and a good breakfast in bed were great ways to start the day. She laughed. There was a note that said “Ha ha! You thought you would have coke. Nice try.” She knew she would get coke by the end of the day. She drank her orange juice. Then she decided she could not wait anymore. Inside the small box wrapped in brown paper was a ring box. She opened it up. It was a diamond stud nose ring that she had always said she wanted for their anniversary. She could not believe that he had actually remembered so many years ago when she had told him.
Later, after she came to her bedroom after he ran her a candle lit bubble bath, she found another present wrapped in brown paper. She opened it up and found a small notebook that had every poem he had ever written to her, another notebook with songs that he had written for her, some that she had never heard him sing before, and a coupon book to perform for her anytime she wants him to.
She went to the kitchen to get a glass of ice cold coke, where she found a third box wrapped in brown paper. It was a set of coke glasses .
She found a fourth and final present, wrapped again in brown paper. Written on the paper in black marker were his vows he never was able to read to her on their wedding day. When she opened it up there was a ring box. He took it from her and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him again. This time he wanted to give her a royal wedding, he wanted to show what a queen she was.
