Silhouettes on Loch Ness
A Monstrous Micro-fiction from the Depths of Loch Ness
We gaze across the famous loch, eyes straining for a glimpse.
"What is that ahead?" asks Lee, pointing.
"I dunno..." I respond, squinting against the sun.
A serpentine shape slithers through the water. Rising humps - coils - bend high above the waterline.
"I see it! Look!" cries Lee.
"I see it too," I agree.
Shocked and excited, we tremble as we try to snap a picture as the humps begin to sink back below the waves.
In moments our glee dissipates. We've seen the beast, but it has left; we've no picture to document what we have seen.

Anton sat at the large oak table in the mediation services office. He had already been there for twenty minutes. He was fifteen minutes early and eager to get this over with.
