Once upon a time, there lived an Ogre banned from society to live in an isolated swamp. There he waited to be saved by his true love. Day and night he would walk around the environment he knew well and would wonder what it must be like to be loved as he felt the sorrow of the swamp constantly eating him day by day. The more he spent his day alone the more he grew bitter and ugly towards the world. All the fairytale creatures feared him and soon he began to give them a reason to do so.

While he lived in his cottage home at the swamp the other fairy tale creatures celebrated doomsday every year. Doomsday was a preparation for the Ogre. The doomsday celebration required the fairy folk to decorate their homes and get drunk off of buzz because they knew that the Ogre was going to be in the ring to fight against the dragon. This was a tradition where the Ogre outsmarted the dragon and every time the Ogre outsmarted the dragon the fairy folk would groan in anger.

"ARGGGHHH!!!" yelled the Ogre "I'm so tired of this!" The army of men right in front of him did not flinch a single bit as the leader stepped up. "It is not your place to have an opinion so carry on into the carriage or the swamp is taken from you", prince Charming had spoken in a fashionable manner as always. He, with his big head and sparkly crown filled with diamonds. The Ogre often imagined playing a prank on Prince Charming just to get a reaction out of him, but if he did he'd be outnumbered, and not that he couldn't defeat 1,000,000 army men. Prince Charming flipped his hair and for a moment it seemed like time slowed down showing that glossy, shiny, and smooth blonde hair of his. Prince Charming took his sword out straight at the Ogre's face nearly enough to pierce through his skin. "Alright, alright will you all move aside I'm trying to win another battle" the Ogre spoke as he chuckled. "Go on!" Prince Charming remarked with a look of dissatisfaction. "Let's go before my hair loses its volume," Prince Charming calmy said as he trailed off after the Ogre unto the carriage.

The whole ride there the Ogre couldn't phantom what gave these creatures pleasure of seeing him run around trying g to save his life from the flames and sharpened claws of the dragon. It was this arena with stadiums built out of cobblestone all around the arena and in the bottom center, a doorway for him to enter and on the other side a giant rusted gate where the dragon came in. The crowd looked pretty much the same, fairy's, Warlocks, Cyclops, Princesses, villains, Leprechauns, but in the crowd there stood out a suspicious creature wearing a red velvet cloak. The suspicious character was running alongside a pet donkey. Donkeys nowadays were rare as they consumed their own magical powers and the ability to speak. Many fairytale folks wanted a donkey for its blood as it contained healing properties among other benefits. The ogre watched the mysterious creature run towards the entrance that would lead to his door. It was impossible he thought. Where are they heading he thought. As he blinked he lost sight of the mysterious creature and the donkey. Disappointed, he thought, " How should I expect someone to come save me from this?... If I'm simply an Ogre... An Ogre that's disliked by all fairytale creatures that I'm the only of my kind.” A lot of Ogres' had been put here in the pit so that the fairy folk can celebrate their Doomsday celebration and none were able to beat the dragon, but only I have and this will be my second year facing the beastly dragon.

“Pssst, psst, psssst!” This noise came from behind the Ogre. Cuffed in chains the Ogre turned around and for the first time carrying hope in his heart that it was someone nice. He looked at the individual and realized it was the mysterious person running towards him at the stadium.

Her voice was lively and soft, “Come with me. You can trust me.” But could he trust her? All of his life everyone has feared his kind and have been evil to all of his kind. As she began to walk away she looked back over her shoulder and motioned her head to follow her. She could see that he was indeed contemplating to follow or to stay. She turned around staring at him and although the Ogre couldn’t see her features on her face yet he knew he should trust her. As she spoke, “ I’m here to save you if that’s not quite obvious. You can choose to stay here and possibly die or come with me.” Something about her made him want to go as she reached out her small tender hand out the Ogre reached out to it and grabbed it. Her hand was warm and his was so rough and cold that he even wondered if she noticed it.

“HEY, YOU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?” Yelled out a prison guard.

“Run, Shrek!” She yelled. How did she know his name? His heart dropped at the sound of someone finally calling him by his name instead of the Ogre.

“Come on Shrek you don’t have time to just stand there, LET’S GO!” She yelled out only this time pulling him with force.

They ran through the crowds of fairytale creatures who gasped and pointed fingers and some even yelled out,” The Ogre is over here!” The prison guards were following making sure that they can catch up to Shrek. That’s when the mysterious woman unveiled her face and swiped out a sword.

The prison guards gasped, all Shrek could see was her dark red, braided long hair. She was wearing a green emerald dress with flats and Shrek thought who could ever fight dressed in that. Seek stepped up alongside her his hands were still cuffed. Wondering why he was still cuffed the woman with her sword slashed the chains so hard it let him free. The guards stuttered in disbeliefe, “ Princess Fiona, what are you doing?”

Princess? Shrek was surprised at the thought of a princess coming to rescue him. She yelled out loud, “ This is my doing and you all need to back off or you know what happens to the folk that disobey the word of a princess.” The guards looked more afraid of her than they did when Shrek was lose. The guards slowly backed up, eyes wide each one of them turning around back to the stadium.

As all the fairy folk left some distraught by the idea that Fiona wanted to be with Shrek. “ So you’re a Princess ey.” Shrek said in this surprised tone. Shrek could see her features, her light blue eyes and her pale skin, her rosy lips. She was beautiful compared to him.

“Why are you doing this?” He asked her. She got closer to him and whispered, “Because I’m getting payed good to send you to Lord Farquaad.” Shrek’s heart dropped he couldn’t believe it. “Look at this fool thinking you were in love with him, Princess”, laughed the talking donkey.

“I’m not going with you!” Shrek fired at her. She smirked, “You don’t have a choice. It’s either you want to be saved or not?” Shrek at this point confused, “ I thought you said I could trust you?” She stepped back and examined his face,” You can.” She paused for a moment thinking of the right words to say, but she knew she could not tell him. Instead she just said, “Come we have a long trip ahead of us.” She smiled at him which made Shrek want to accompany her because no one has ever smiled at him.

“Promise, nothing bad will happen to me” Shrek stated. Fiona looked at him and explained, “Lord Farquaad has a place where creatures like you can live.” That was all she said and left it at that and started walking the muddy trail.
