She Was This World

The Queen

The Queen was loved because she loved this world

The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished.

The clocks stopped and started to go backwards on the day the Queen vanished.

The birds stopped singing and started to fly backwards on the day the Queen vanished.

She was everything to this world.

She was the order, the time, the whole ‘existence’ of this world.

When the Queen was here, everything was perfect and everything went right and everyone was happy.

But now that the Queen had vanished, everything was wrong and going backwards, and everyone was unhappy and sad, and nothing was right.

There wasn’t even any colour in this world now.

Instead of the beautiful bright yellow sky, with the big fluffy white clouds and the lovely little rainbow colored birds, there was a dull grey sky with dark grey rainy clouds and black and white birds — who didn’t sing but who would fly backwards.

The little girls and boys who were going to school in their pastel coloured smart clothes were suddenly lost and crying, and their clothes had changed to dark brown, almost black. Their teachers just stood still, looking around them, not having a clue what they were supposed to be doing, their clothes having changed from the usual bright rainbow colours to the dark grey rainy colours.

Thank goodness there were no cars or trains in this world or there would have been some terrible crashes.

It was bad enough when the farmers on their horses started to walk backwards, yes backwards, instead of forwards to plow the fields. Again, instead of the bright green clothes of the farmers, their clothes had changed to dirty green, and the beautifully coloured Appaloosa horses were black instead of their gay colours.

What on earth had happened?

It seemed that no one could even think without the Queen, she kept such good ‘order’ in this world. She had the ‘magic’ touch and would keep this world happy, colourful, bright and cheerful. In fact, it was perfect!

When the Queen was here, the waterfalls gently flowed down the quiet rivers which ran straight into the sea. The dolphins were pastel pink and blue and ‘skipped’ over the waters of the ocean. The bright pink salmon would swim up the river to their home, for the next batch of eggs for the next generation of salmon.

But now, within seconds, the river flowed backwards with the salmon swimming in the wrong direction, now that the Queen had vanished. Instead of ‘skipping’ above the waters of the ocean, the dolphins now swam mournfully just under the very same waters, which had turned a nasty blue disguising the dull pink and blue of the dolphins.

Where had the Queen gone? Who had kidnapped her? Or had she died?

No one seemed to know anything. No one could even think or know what they were doing.

The whole world came to a standstill.

Realising that something was wrong, the Queen’s sister looked into her magic ball at this tiny world to find out what was going on. She searched and searched and searched this whole world for her sister, but to no avail. The Queen of this world had just vanished, literally, off the face of this world.

And because it was not ‘her’ world, the sister could do nothing to help these innocent people with their children and their animals. All she could do was watch, see and try to find the Queen.

The Queen would never do this deliberately, just ‘leave’ this world which she had magically created. The Queen loved this world and the order that she gave it. She loved to see the children giggling with their parents, and the animals ‘dancing’ in the fields and the ocean.

But for some reason, today, after a thousand years of perfect peace, life and happiness, the river ran backwards because the Queen had vanished.

This is a truly captivating and imaginative tale. The vivid imagery and the unique world you've created are simply mesmerizing. The way you've portrayed the Queen's absence and its impact on the world is both poignant and thought-provoking. It's a beautiful exploration of the power of a single individual to bring joy and order to the world. Thank you for sharing this enchanting story.
