“Princess, for the last time stop pestering me, I’ve a task at hand that I have to finish before your father has my head” Alex said as he walked down the hall on one of the floors of the huge palace with the princess, young heir to the throne in tow following him
“But Mr Alexander, I’m so incredibly bored please let me tag along, I won’t be a burden I’ll help” She said trying to convince him to let her come with him to do whatever royal duty he is assigned since there is nothing else to do in the palace anyway
“I am not your play toy so instead of annoying me go for some other servant you have loads in this whole castle” He said as he rolled her eyes at her and walked in a quick stride not even bothering to wait up for her
“Alright, alright I’ll get out of your hair if you want but only if you answer one last question Mr Alexander” She said still trying to converse with him even though he was pushing her away
“Yes, hurry up with it we don’t have all day” He said as he crossed his arms and slowed down to match her pace and sighed as he waited for her to speak up
“Are you coming to the grand ball happening for me tonight? Surely, you know about it..will you be assisting in something? Catering or what not?” She asked curiously as she looked at him tilting her head a little
He didn’t bother looking at her and shook his head “I know of it but I’m not invited princess, now that you have your answer you can go, so go”
She pouted and kept on walking beside him “Then I have a proposal to make, why don’t we both have our own little ball, I’ll meet you in the courtyard when everyone is busy eating, no one will even know I’m gone, I need you by the courtyard sharp at 11:00 PM tonight” She said and turned around to leave without even hearing his answer. In her heart she knew he would come and that was enough for her
He was left flabbergasted as he looked at her go with wide eyes internally cursing himself for getting into this situation. Was he gonna show up? If he didn’t the princess would surely have his head, he knew that she was spoiled and always got what she wanted. He sighed in defeat as he went about his tasks and chores throughout the castle dreading the start of the ball later into the evening

Later the princess got to the ball, she was looking absolutely stunning in her red ball gown, and was wearing a beautiful tiara as well that had a ruby gem on it in the middle and the rest was made of pure gold. It was majestic and she wore it ever so perfectly. The young princess catered to all the guests at the ball, danced and danced with people she didn’t even know the names of, drank wine and laughed at all the jokes made her way even though they weren’t even the slightest bit funny. She put up with all this just because she knew the second the clock struck 11:00 she will be with the man she had hopelessly fallen in love with, who would be there she knew deep down in her heart, he would be there but not because he felt the same way for her but because it was an order by the princess and it was his duty to comply. He did not feel anything for her. The only thing he ever felt was his loyalty towards his job and that shattered her heart but it was better than nothing.
After painful hours the time finally came when it was 11:00 PM, late into the evening she made her way out of the huge ballroom going unnoticed which was quite easy since everyone was either busy eating or talking, she slipped out of the back door and lifted her dress up ever so slightly so it would be easier for her to walk her way down the stairs towards the courtyard.
She was right, all her thoughts were right. He did show up. He was standing there looking at the vines on the balcony of the courtyard and hadn’t noticed her arrival at all. She admired him for afar a smile tugging at her lips and didn’t say a word and held her breath until he turned around and noticed her and looked at her with wide eyes

“She’s so beautiful”. These words kept repeating themselves in his head to the point where he accidentally blurted it out as well and looked away from her embarrassed and she couldn’t help but laugh a little, she was glad he found her beautiful. It made her feel confident that tonight would go her way, that he would give into her charm and beauty and for once forget that she was a princess and he was her servant. Hope is a wonderful thing, it can make even the most dire situations fill with life and she clung onto that hope for dear life as she made her way towards him.
“Would you like to dance with me Mr Alexander?” She said as she held her hand out to him and smiled gently as he took her hand in his and kissed it gently before putting his other hand on her waist and they danced to the faint yet melodious music that was coming from the ballroom to the courtyard. They danced and danced in circles until their feet hurt and they ran out of steps and out of breath. It was as though she had cast a magic spell on him by being so close to him. He was lost in the brown eyes of this beautiful princess, and succumbed to a trance.
Then in the midst of things he let her go.
He let her waist go and then he let her hand go and looked at her for a second before turning away from her. “I think we’ve danced enough princess, it’s time we go our separate ways” He said not even daring to look at her. He knew if he didn’t he wouldn’t be able to leave
She looked at him a bit hurt by his actions but she knew this would come and she planned on doing everything in her power to make him stay, even if it was for a little while “One more dance, just one more Mr Alexander and then you can go” She said almost pleading with him as she reached for his hand and he let her hold it and within a minute they were dancing again, round and round in circles as they held onto each other in a tight embrace lost in each others warmth and touch, letting the concept of time leave them
“Alright princess..the dance is over..I have to go now princess..let me go” He said as he let her go and turned away from her and started walking towards the servants quarters. She stared at him as he turned his back to her and walked away and her heart broke a little and then she didn’t even know it and her legs carried her to run after him and she hugged him from behind to stop him breaking into tears as she hid her face and grabbed fistfulls of his dress shirt from behind. “Mr Alexander I’m in love with you…I’m so hopelessly in love with you..” She said as she cried and cried while clinging onto him. He froze as he heard her words and pushed her off him abruptly not taking her seriously
“Alright that’s enough now princes…” He said and before he could finish he felt her lips press onto his as she held onto him tightly and pulled him into a kiss. A sweet kiss which he couldn’t resist as hard as he tried and he felt his arms wrap around her as he kissed her back. As she pulled away to catch her breath she looked up at him with a mixture of love and lust in her eyes he let her go but she grabbed his face and pulled him in for another kiss and all he could do was give in to her charm just once more. Her kiss felt like heaven. It was as if a constellation was falling into place but he knew this would be his last as he pulled back and looked at her and pushed her away harshly
“Goodbye princess, this is for the best” He said before walking away from her not even turning back for a wave or so much as a parting glance, he was going for good, and she knew she wasn’t gonna see him again and as she watched him leave she uttered something that made his heart break into two as he trudged on.

“I will wait for a third kiss, even if it takes an eternity Mr Alexander, for I love you”
