When hanging out with people, play on words are bound to come about naturally. Some times words come about as a way of not having to say something directly. A way of avoiding something uncomfortable or gross, an example being who-ha when speaking with children. Sometimes these words take on lives of their own and transform along with those creators that coined them.

As we age our childhood stomachs of steel turn more particular. We begin to actually have to judge if somethings we use to love are actually good ideas and worth it. Some restaurants are delicious going down, but less friendly coming out. There is a hilarious scene in 2 Weeks notice dealing with an RV to illustrate my point. So what started as a way for my husband and I to share a state of being slowly became so much more.

The word slowly took on a life of it's own becoming context specific. We threw it around so loosely it started to define genre of movies. Specifically hallmark and lifetime movies. However, I'd use it for commercials so touching they made me cry. My husband would look over and be laughing at how a commercial could move me to tears. It became the excuse used to explain why we'd be on our phone doimg other things during shows.

Although I'm sure we can not take credit for the creation of the individual parts of the word. I think we can take credit for it's use in certain given contexts. It is no wonder there are so many words that mean so many different things to different cultures, families and individuals.

Here are some short stories that explain a world without our use of the word.

Lolly and Ben were in a car on the way home from their favorite Mexican food restaurant. Lolly just ate a whole seafood burrito.

"Ben can you drive a little faster."

"No Lolly, there's a cop"

"Ugh, my stomach hurts"

"what kind of pain, is it serious? Do you need to go to a hospital?!"

"No, just uncomfortable."

"jesus Lolly, you had me scared."

"Oh no"

"What"

If only Lolly had something better to say.

Next scenario....

"Ben there is a new Christmas movie."

"Lolly, I think it's a lifetime one."

"Okay"

She continues to put it on.

"No, like a hallmark", he says.

"So what are you saying?"

""Well, just, it's mid day. Is that what you really want to watch?"

"Why are you speaking in code and asking me when I ask you?! So you dont?"

"Well the acting is, you know, I'm not sure its right for right now?"

"So, no than?"

"Nevermind it's fine."
.....
"You wanted to watch this Lolly and you're not even watching."

"Well you know, its so predictable, we both know what the script has planned."

Ben rolls his eyes.

If only they had, had a word to help better explain easily what they were trying to say.

Thank goodness this will never happen to any of us.
