Liza sat on the floor, her body shaking with racking sobs. Tears flowing in torrents down her cheeks.

The thoughts had come racing back, violent and unstoppable:

If she unzipped her skin would the emotions just fly out? Flap their tattered wings and just be gone forever?

But, if so, would she lose the good ones too?

Because maybe one day you will find your joy. It will come welling from deep within. Through people you love, living how you want, and being who you've always been.

After all, if someone can self-harm, there's nothing to stop them from self-healing.
