Scarface and Lola
"Is Your Family more important than mine? Is mine more important than yours?"

On a huge ranch, in Central Cuba - an SUV pulls through the entrance. Gunmen, hang around the porch on guard. One, leaves to retrieve The Boss, Emiliano Arnaz. A pot-bellied, seasoned Drug-trafficker, with a loud booming voice. His men call him 'El Voz',or 'The Voice' as he likes to sit on the shaded porch, fanning himself with a fedora and singing aloud as he watches near 100 Gomeros/Farmers harvest his large crops of Mota (weed).
Out of the SUV, steps 3 Cubanos. Tailored, and groomed, from Havana. Don Arnaz, comes to greet his Upstart counterpart. 34 year old, Capo, Antonio 'Scarface' Perez, with his top 2 Men; Emmanuel Cabrera, 27 and Ramon Vera, 26. "Como estas?" asks Tony, as he and Arnaz strongly grip each other's rough hands.
"Mas O Menos, Entrada caballero, Entra!" Arnaz waves them into the Air conditioned, Villa.
"Que pasa Antonio? You don't drop in to say 'Hola' like your Brothers do. Business, always Business. I Must Respect it."
Tony, Manny, and Vera spread out in Emil's carpeted office. Don Arnaz, stuffs a cohiba in his mouth and taps his chest for a light before the ripping sound of a match tearing gets his attention. "Gracia, Reynaldo." He says to his Lieutenant.
"Look at this Chicos! Every TIME he hover right to that window! I told you before! Those girls are hard working on MY CLOCK! Leave them alone, si?"
The men glance over & chuckle at a smitten Antonio, looking out the windows at the sweaty female workers. The sun is setting, and the view of the marijuana plantation goes on and on like never ending football fields. 'Scarface' Perez, the middle brother of the Notorious Perez Trio, is the most ambitious, most selfish and deviant.
He grew up angry. The 2nd son of a Man very High up in The Cuban Cartel. He received all the pressure of a middle child growing up. While his Older Brother Bobby was graduating high school, and being praised; the youngest, Jose, was being babied and bought new clothes as he entered high school. All his life, Tony came second.
"These are Good Days." Tony says, staring out the window. He massages an 18 year old razor scar on his left jawline, which gave him the nickname 'Scarface'. Tony was sent by The Boss back in April, to help "Protect" Arnaz's Crop from Violent young rivals. Bobby, is serving Time for Murder, and Jose is in hiding, Leaving Tony as Head of the Perez crews. For everyone else who swims in these waters, these are NOT 'Good Days'. Tony's on a rampage. Leaving bodies in the streets, steaming of bullet holes from hostile takeovers. Independents having to pay double the going rate for Cocaine and Weed.
Lately, instead of sending Cabrera to collect The monthly fee of $250,000 - Tony has started to come down himself to see something only he's been seeing all summer. A Sign.
In one of Perez's favorite films; A character named Tony Montana, rises through the Cocaine Business after watching a blimp cruise by, saying "The World is Yours."
Every evening just before 9pm, The sun sets, and custom built street lights, light up The Plantation. It forms a glowing, light green hue for miles. Illuminating the almost $12M/per annum operation. The beam, reflects off the glass and into Tony's devilishly handsome eyes, and, as A Man on the Rise, it gives him his own feeling of a Blimp in the sky. The light, subtly tells him - "You can have it All".
Down below in the fields, a curvy, gomera - looks up. Wearing an old scarf, torn jeans, her hair in a bun - she see's a God-like Figure standing over her and The Miles of weed.
"No got all night, Ton'.... Que PASO?" - Arnaz bangs his desk to get his attention.
"I haven't wanted to do this. Shake up the Pot. But, orders, are just that, Amigo. ORDERS. Bobby say, I should come down here, and give you an offer. To buy you out, of our Empire here." Tony, pulls out a cigarette. "EH! NO, NO NO! Absolutely fucking NOT!
This is My second smallest; yet it brings in a WINDFALL Hombre! I send my grandkid's to college in California from this here! You Perez's were running around in pre-school when I finally got My first plant to grow! NO, LOCO! You wouldn't even be up here as a partner, if I did not need your Father's protection!"
"But you did need it, Senor." says polite, stocky Cabrera. "Do." adds, The reserved, alert Ramon Vera.
"We offer you 75M, All-in." Tony, jutting his chin upwards, daring a counter-offer. Blowing out smoke.
"Antonio! 75, a Big Number, Pero, as Don Emiliano say... This Here, offers our Familia Generational Dinero. Now. I ask you, "Is Your Family more important than mine? Is mine more important than yours?" Reynaldo gives his take.
After, hours of haggling, Perez and co. power-walk out to the SUV, tipping their hats, nodding their heads at other Arnaz Gunmen. Tony sends Cabrera over to the fields to invite his crush to his home tomorrow for lunch. Emmanuel greets the young field worker. "Manolo Cabrera." he extends his hand. "Luvina Lola Lopes." The 18 year old, un-smiling girl puts down the burlap sack filled with mota and grabs his hand with both of hers.
Havana: Tony has a 9 bedroom Beach House. Decked out with A huge pool. Motorcycles, cars, and horses running about. Tony sits at an umbrella'd table, making calls when one of his Rising star, teenage soldiers, Alex, drives up in a Mercedes. Alex hops out and goes to open the door for Tony's guest. Ms. Lopes. Tony stands up, and right away realizes this kid has gusto. She walks right up to him, in a denim outfit, eyes unwavering. Tony removes his aviators to look her in the eye as they finally, formally meet and shake. Unlike Tony's hazel ones, Lola's eyes are a natural, gorgeous light green. "Do you know who I am?" Ton' asks. "Si, Senor." she informs.
"Esta bien. Siete. Tengo hambre?" "Siempre, Jefe." She's always hungry, she replies.
Two maids come out with trays. Steak. Lobster. Shrimp, Cuban Rum. The attractive, roughneck chica gasps at everything. The $1,000 bottle of Bacardi. The Pool. The Mansion. Tony's jewels.
They spend close to two hours chatting in a native, spanish. After a hearty meal, she knows Tony wants her for sensual reasons, but that all the talking wasn't just for the art of conversation. It was a job interview. Tony plans on grabbing all the drug routes/territories possible and needs only the best in his employ. Tony paid an Arnaz man 5k for Arnaz's daily routine. His weaknesses, vices. Also, who in Arnaz's circle may be of value.
"There's this chica, don't talk much. From Madrid. Her mother sent her here to hide after the girl stabbed her father to death. The man molested his children and beat his wife. Spend rent money on opiates. One night, enough was enough when the father got high and tried to touch his young son. Luv gave 'em 16 stab wounds, one for each year of molestation. Been working the ranch as The Best picker now for 2 years. She's been hoping for promotion from Arnaz; but it never come."
As Summer continues, Tony courts & spoils Lola, & they get to know each other very well. Instead of working 60 hours/ wk. in the field, riding on a bus with her co-workers back to 'El Barrio', dark sacks over their heads to prevent snitching; Lola now gets special treatment. She comes and goes as she pleases in luxury sedans. No sack over her head. And more cash than she can count. This enrages Don Arnaz. To see, his best worker being slowly stolen. Don Tony, as he becomes known as this summer, started out as just The son of a Business Associate, who's now someone to watch cautiously or else lose everything to.
On the 1st day of Autumn, Lola must prove her loyalties. She now wakes up at the Beach House. Walks through the halls in a silk robe and no shoes ordering maids around. Taking business calls for Tony. Accepting duffle bags at the side door and double counting tribute payments. At her routine breakfast with Tony, Ramon and Cabrera, about an hour after her and Tony's morning bath together. The offer she's been waiting for is laid out. "Help us Kill Emiliano and take all his Ranches. I'll make you Supervisor of Rancho Arnaz at 5k weekly."
That evening, after hours of picking at the Ranch milling over Tony's offer, she's summoned to the office where Reynaldo and Arnaz, put their offer out. "Plant this at Tony's Mansion for Mi. We'll get you a visa to Miami, where an apartment and $50,000 awaits you. Lola looked into the bag. It contained used guns. 7 Kgs of Heroin. And a well-thought out blueprint planning on how to assassinate A DEA Agent. It's enough to take down Tony forever. Before agreeing, she asks for the evening off.
Lola doesn't spend this night with Tony. She heads to her own spot. Un-able to sleep. All night she pondered both offers. "I know of your trauma from your father's death; but Luvina. You're more than a Gomera. You can be the 1st Made Woman en Cuba." -Tony.
"He nada but trouble. All his partners become corpses, muchacha. I took you in, and took care of you almost 3 years." Said Arnaz.
He and Tony both asked for a morning call with her answer.
Alex; Tony's 17 year old, drives her to work in the a.m. as he'd done most summer. On the road, they stop at a vendor. "Alex! Buy Frutas. I have to make call." He gives her a smile & thumbs up. Lola makes a call of a lifetime on her cell, which she later throws into a lake as Alex resumes driving.
"Sorry for being late, Jefe!" Lola bursts into Emiliano's office. "I brought your favorites." She sets down a fresh bowl of strawberries.
Arnaz digs into the berries. He & Rey Stare into Lola's soul. She sits. "Tony won't get much time, will he?" she asks. Emiliano is ice cold watching her. He nods, and coughs from eating too fast. He clears his throat. "We expecting someone, Patron?" Reynaldo asks as a SUV convoy enter the gates. "N- Na..." Emil tries to say no but can't. Face turning maroon. Then almost purple. His eyes bloodshot.
"JEFE!?"
A Thousand Gunshots deafen the air. Lola's handpicked Sicarios begin seizing the Farm. Screaming & Shouting & Return fire. "Bitch!" Reynaldo charges Lola, who stumbles out the chair. He grabs & chokes her until he hollars loudly. She sticks him in the leg with a hidden scalpel. The office door is kicked in; Cabrera blows Reynaldo away with a shotgun. "Vamonos, Rapido!" He pulls Lola up to her feet, as she looks back once more to see Arnaz face down from poison berries.
Weeks later, Lola gets a knock on her office door. Her face lights up, as Don Tony Perez, strolls through in a new pinstripe suit.
Gliding over to the window to see his lights. "5 more minutes." she says on her computer. "No rush, I hate plays."
"Just give it a chance, Amor. 'The Importance of Being Earnest'. " she says with a huge smile.
"Wasn't Oscar Wilde gay?"
Lola Chuckles. "He was cultured, Anthony."
It's only been 6 weeks, and the now 19 year old, has upped the monthly gross by 10%. She's been insistent that they invest more money into cryptocurrency, though the only time she can get Tony to listen is after sex. 'He doesn't even have an exit plan for this shit', Lola realized one night.
He see's a green light outside. She's starting to see Green in Him.
