By taking the amount of time for the two families to get together, one would assume it would be a happy affair. With the sun beating down on them, it didn’t feel like late December in Delaware but the warmest of nights in May.

“….And another thing! We had a family already until you all showed up!” Lerrick Knower exclaimed.

“That’s alright. We’ve got to put up with your mess. And it is a fine mess, I must say….” Balencia Gull replied.

Knower fumed. “I’ve made sacrifice after sacrifice just to keep this family together.”

“Sacrifices don’t impress me. That means you’re giving up values,” Balencia shot back. The children continued to play flag football and chomp on ham and cheese sandwiches and macaroni salad. The grown folks tried to lower the temperature of Knower and Balenciago but it was just as high as that of the one outside.

The two of them yelled at each other with a bit of rancor and hostility that only family members could show. With absolutely sworn enemies, there could be found a sense of mutual regard. Not here. They didn’t go at each other's throats. It was close, though.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about! I put this family together! There’s not a goddamn thing I know that will make me apologize to you. You’ve ruined my daughter with your gaslighting. You are cruel.”

“…And you have no way to back your claims because you’re too worried about being exposed as a harlot your whole life!”

One of the children, just nine-years-old, Ameesha Volpe stood between the two warring adults. The other adults just stood with potent potables and tried to act like none of this had happened.

“In all of this, we could have been making some more money,” Ameesha said.
