“Lo, Isaac Reeves. Fear not, for behold! I bear a message from Above-”
“Holy fucking shit! What the fuck! Who are you?”
“I am a Holy Messenger come with a charge to lay about thy shoulders; A divine mandate wrought in Holy Mind for thee-”
“What the? How are- ? Are…are you God?”
“NO. I come only bearing a message-”
“Oh my god. What the fuck. I’m insane. I’ve finally lost it…Oh my god.”
“Thou shalt not take the Holy Name in vain.”
“Oh my god…”
“Cease!”
“Oh my…gosh. Fuck me. Fuck. You’re an angel?”
“Yes. Now, I come bearing a message-”
“I thought- I thought angels had the wheels and eyes and stuff?”
“…That's a different kind-”
“Shit man. Ok. That's a different kind. Yeah-”
“Cease thy interruptions!”
“Ok, fuck. Sorry. Oh my- I mean- I guess, uh. Sorry. Well, I guess…what's the message?”
“…”
“Don’t look at me like that. It's a lot to take in. All this.”
“…Lo, Isaac Reeves. Fear not, for behold! I bear a message from Above. Thou art called to sabotage AI infrastructure, and in so doing, right the ills it wreaks on the world. Eternal judgement waits beyond thy refusal. Farewell-”
“Are you fucking serious? Comeback!”
“…?”
“What's that face for? What the fuck? I…I can’t do that!”
“…Behold! Thou art called, and whence thy calling leads a way will be made, if only by the steadfast tread of thy feet.”
“No, what? I mean why would I ever WANT to do that? sabotage AI whatevers? That's insane.”
“God created the heavens and the earth in balance, and charged mankind as stewards of his creation. These AI hives ever thirst for the fresh water to cool the flames of Hell they kindle there. In so doing, they turn it bitter and unfit for God’s earth. Minerals for the batteries and metal veins that make up the AI minds are harvested through third world exploitation. From Below they seem a modern marvel, from Above they are a crime: against the earth, against humanity, and against humans who look different to thee.”
“Ok ok, so, they use a lot of water and other resources and the resources aren’t always ethically sourced. AI helps a lot of people too, though. It makes things easier.”
“Even thine worldly philosophers know ‘The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man's heart’. Sisyphus would weep without the hill. Ease is a false god fed by the hard work of others.”
“Ok! I get its bad. But like, its…its still cool, right? Emerging tech. You can make images of whatever you want.. Whatever comes into your head.”
“AI has opened the floodgate, dredging men’s minds for their deepest and most perverted desires, giving them life and light online at the whim of a word. Lust let loose and allowed to rule the world. Woe, woe to the world and everyone in it, for some minds are better kept shut.”
“Yeah, well. That's true. Its gross. I know, but like. I don’t want to go to prison to stop incels jerking off to some gross bullshit. It's a free country, we just need better laws.”
“What worldly ruler refuses to bow before the iron rod of profit incentives? Thine leaders are little more than the arbitrators of corporate property rights. They will never serve thee. Laws on paper will not save thee from the AI rot that festers in the heart of society. It must be cut out at the fibre optic roots.”
“But… I don’t know. If I break something its wrong, right? Its illegal!”
“What is legal and what is good to do are not the same. Would thou slay an innocent man if the law commanded so?”
“Well, no, but-”
“Would thou stand back and let a man ravish a woman if the law let him do so?”
“Of course I wouldn’t! I’d do the right thing regardless of what the law said.”
“Well said, good and faithful servant. Thou art called to beat thy ploughshare into a sword, and slay the demon infesting fickle men’s minds.”
“But, like, its stealing right? Destroying property that isn’t mine is like theft of value, or whatever. What happened to ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’?”
“AI is built upon the data of the multitudes. Stolen from thee without thy knowing as does the thief in the night. Destroying AI data centres brings just reclamation of that very theft.”
“I can’t get their data back, though? Its not like I’m just stealing it back. I would be destroying this whole other thing. Like physical stuff.”
“The value of thine stolen data has been transmuted: once into currency, twice into physical infrastructure. Each brick they place are parts of what was stolen; what, by rights, belongs to the world, and thine self as their representative.”
“Shit man. I mean, I guess you’re right? I don’t know though. I agree that the world would be better without AI, and destroying stuff owned by the thieving companies is cosmic justice. Especially if a higher power commands me to do it. It just seem crazy.”
“Some acts are unthinkable until someone dares. Thou art called to be a sword today; to wreak, in thine wake, destruction and division: Destruction of unholy abominations of mind, division of man and his idols. Thou shalt make a new world in a better image than the warped AI mirror mankind has made for themselves.”
“Ok. Ok. Oh my god. I can’t do this. This is- like, its insane. I get what you’re saying but its not me. I’m not the kind of guy that could do this. You have the wrong person.”
“Thou art called in thy weakness, so that strength beyond thine own may shine through. By thy weakness, glory is sent Above, for thou may not say you acted by thy strength alone.”
“Ok, yeah. But surely there are better candidates than me, right?”
“The heroes of old were nothing before their calling. Thou art in good company amidst your weakness.”
“Oh my god…ok. Ok.”
“Thou shalt not take the Holy Name in vain!”
“Sorry!…fuck me.”
“…”
“You’re sure I have to do this?”
“Thy calling is clear, beyond doubt. The destruction of AI infrastructure is the moral reparation of endless data theft and the cauterisation of the societal wound through which public morality and imagination are leaking. Thou art called to stop it.”
“Ok. Ok.”
“…”
“Where do I start?”
