You have been successful in your application for the “Feeder” position at Innsmouth Labs Inc. Regrettably, we have seen very high turn-over in this position, which is why we’re so glad to have you on board.
To help you succeed, please find a guide sheet for your first day, attached below:
1. “Feeders” start early, so you will see no one when you start, despite being at the right address.
2. Park your car in the staff carpark, any spot will do.
3. You’ll see a path paved with red brick leading up to reception, follow it.
4. You will find the front desk empty, go through the staff door on the right.
5. Through the door, you’ll find the staff lockers. Switch on the lights and ignore any personal belongings left by previous staff.
6. Select any locker and place all your belongings inside. They don’t lock.
7. To left of the staff lockers is the supplies cupboard, generously provided by the company. Grab a flashlight. Touch nothing else.
8. Directly opposite the lockers is a door. Beyond it, you will find the bathrooms and staff break area, pass through here, and you are ready to begin.
Your first task is feeding Terry. Terry is very special. We love Terry. Terry is very friendly, but likes to take advantage of people. We can’t let Terry do that, so please follow the below instructions to the letter:
1. We keep Terry below a special facility at at the bottom of the hill. Walk down to it. Take the concrete steps but do not touch the metal railing.
2. The only way to enter this facility is through the double doors, which are locked with a silver chain, bound with a padlock of bronze. Unlock it with the code 23784.
3. Close the doors behind you and switch on your torch, it will be dark inside. Don’t worry if you hear the chain rattling behind you, it’s just the wind: now we have you, no one else will be using this entrance.
4. To your right will be a metal door with a latch, lift it and enter. Do not try any other doors.
5. Inside, you’ll see a trapdoor of dark wood with a heavy metal ring at one end in the center of the room.
6. Walk up to it and lift. The hinges are kept oiled. Don’t make any noise.
7. Inside you'll find a concrete chute with a steel ladder. Climb down, it's a long way.
8. When you reach the bottom you’ll find yourself in a small concrete room with a locked steel door at one end. Unlock it with the key code 3528 and enter.
9. On the far wall you will see a shadowed hole a meter across. Do not get close to it. Do not point your torch toward it.
10. In the corner of the room directly to your left will be a small hatch with a steel lid.
11. On the ground, one of Terry’s “toys” will likely wait for you. It will be in the shape of a human body with dried and shriveled skin and a bite mark on the back of its neck. We give these to Terry to keep him occupied between feedings.
12. It will weigh and feel like a human corpse but it is not. Drag it to the steel hatch and throw it down the chute. You will not be able to hear it land.
13. Finally, cross to the other corner away from the dark hole in the wall.
14. Face the corner, look at your feet, and switch off your torch.
15. No further instructions needed.
