It was time without consequence,

her Neverland.

But their voices were growing incessantly louder and the vibrations were crumbling her internal world piece by piece.

She could no longer forestall the inevitable awakening.

The hospital machines were now unmistakable in their rhythmic churning.

Beep, beep, beep.

She had integrated the sound to her world as a ticking clock. Her grandmothers. But it’s tone was now too pressing and the illusion she had so carefully crafted was collapsing.

Returning her consciousness to that weighted body felt like a knife being slowly twisted in her mind.

She had realised long, long ago that her world was not real. The illusion had been irreparably broken, shattered.

Ironically, this knowing came to her in a dream. Her dream within a dream.

She re-entered her weakened body. A body kept alive by machines in her absence.

Oxygen and tube feeding were being forced into it. Into her.

It felt intrusive.

It felt violating.

Nausea washed over her as she reattached to this biological vessel. This representation of her past physical self.

She could hear familiar voices talking, willing her return.

She didn’t want to be here. To recommence that life. That life of misery. Of imprisonment.

Yet resistance was entirely futile.

She grieved her freedom slipping away as they cried in joy and disbelief “she’s waking up!”.

This was so sad. If this ever happened to me, I would rather they don't do things like this to keep me bound to this reality. Like, just let me go. I go by the concept of putting things out of it's misery, lol. But if it's an animal, I'll try my best to save it hehehehehe

I love this, have never been in a coma but passed out properly Ince and as I was coming to it felt like I'd lived a whole other lifetime down there!
