the urge to interrupt him before he had finished was overwhelming

Every small thing he said was unnerving and disturbing. How dare he try to make me look like the bad guy in front of complete strangers to me? Is this why I had been warned to stay away from him? But it was something about him that just attracted me.

In reality, it was his blunt and harsh anger at being seen and heard. Or the fact that he was the classic story book bad boy looking kinda guy. With his ripped-up jeans and leather jacket that he wore. The way he carried himself made me feel so fragile and invisible but yet so protected and honored.

His rage was something I could do without. I walked up to him and tried to get him to calm down and stop him from getting on top of the table. When suddenly the door to the restaurant opened up with a bang. Then he stopped mid-sentence, mid rant and looked to see what had distracted everyone from paying attention to him.

“Uncle? He stuttered out. The man looked unapproachable as he wore nice jeans and a button-up shirt with a blazer to make him look professional, yet he was unapproachable. He carried him the same way he did. With pride and demand. Demand to be respected.

His face was pale and fear was in his eyes. This was the first time I had ever seen him like this.

His uncle did not respond to him, his attention was drawn to me. I suddenly felt like I was being examined like an animal in an auction. His eyes examined me and burned into me. It made me want to cry or run away. Then he walked towards me and offered his hand out to me.

We shook hands, and after we shook hands, he put a gentle kiss on my hand in the manner of a classy gentleman.

He glared at his nephew and then he leaned towards me and whispered to me. “Please try to persuade him to come, for my sake.

I fear he does not wish to listen to me at all and may choose to listen to you. I am quite aware of everything he has done and what you are doing, and I understand why you are attempting. To assure you, girl. This is not a game you should get into so lightly.

The world has not been introduced to you yet and it is obvious that you don't have the strength to live in this world. So, once you do this one thing you are free to leave unless you wish to be trained and groomed for this life? “

He pulls away from me and nods at me. Then he beckons quite insistently to the restaurant. You would be well advised to adhere to the curfew set for tonight if you plan to live through tonight.

And he turns to leave but holts for a second and turns to look at us once more. “Nephew, you need to show more respect to the woman you have stated you wish to be with. And I will be waiting in the car. I do not need to remind you which one it is, boy. The family is gathering, and they wish to see you and her.” Then his uncle leaves out the door.

That’s when he turns to me. “WHO IN THE FUCK ARE YOU?’ he shouts. I flinch. “ darling I have been dating you for a few years now surely you know who I am by now. “I say as I grab my bag and his hand as I tug him towards the door.

“Come on, I have a feeling you must not leave your uncle waiting for too long. He seems like a man not to double cross.”

He blinks and his jaw drops for a mere moment. He is confused. He shakes his head and tightens his grip on my hand and raises it up a bit and pulls me close to him. “Once this family gathering is over, we have a lot to discuss. Now let's go”

That was the last normal day of my life if you could even call my life normal. After we left the restaurant that night every last thing about me was revealed to him. And he was so angry with me. His father had hired me to trick him into loving me.

So that he had eyes on him at all times. In exchange for paying for college, housing and anything else I desired. I fell on hard times, and this was my only way to survive. To trick some stupid runaway mafia boy into loving me.

But that game was a dangerous one and now I find myself graduating college with full honors and a high paying job accompanied by a ring on my finger. And the promise of a true caring family by my side. The only thing is I may never see my old friends or family ever again or anything from my old life. It was far too dangerous for them now in my life.
