Chloe’s POV
Its been three months since I have seen or heard of William, every day was just as painful as when he left. Not a goodbye, not a call, text nothing.
On Monday I spent my work day chatting with Sandy, she told me to move on that he clearly didn’t care and never did. Here I am, on Thursday on my day off, standing by the lake where I had met him for the first time outside of my work. I shove my gloved hands into my pockets and stared down at the water, my reflection stared back at me. It’s been three weeks since I left the coffee shop, Sandy is the only person who knows why. after a couple minutes I turn and start to walk away, my phone starts ringing “Hello.” I answer, “this is Mae, I’m Will’s sister. I have a mission for you, but I need your complete help.” I hold my breath for a minute then I tell her to go on. “My brother, he has been very busy these past few months but lately our father put him on a new position, one that could ruin his future. I need your help to bring him back.“ I let out a sigh and and I look around. “When can we meet?” I asked, after a moment she replied saying that she will email me a plane ticket.
William’s POV
Three months, it’s been three months since I left. I wanted to see her again before I left but I couldn’t I couldn’t bring myself to stay there any longer and see the sadness on her face before I left, so I did what any sane man would have done, I left without saying goodbye but I had asked for a favor from my sister. “Mae, do you really think I want to hear another fable about Clair coming here to save me?” She has moved on in her life, we said we would stay in touch and due to our father I have not been able to stay in touch.” I heard Mae let out a sigh through the phone. “You don’t put enough faith in me brother.” And with that, the line goes dead.
Its been three months, three months since I have seen Chloe’s face. And the more I think about her the more my heart aches to be there with her, Mae has a plan to bring Chloe here, I don’t believe for one second that it will work. Not while father is here anyway, the last time something like this had happened was with Rachel, I had brought her to my cottage. We got married there, it was the best short time of my life. Mae was still too young to understand what was going on, but as she got older she started to understand more.
i I walk into my office, I find my father sitting in the chair facing my desk “you’re late for work.” He said, as he moves his hand to the arm of the chair showing the glass he has in his hand. “Bit too early to drink, don’t you think father?” I asked as I walked over to my desk and sat down “the paper work has been filed already, there is nothing more that we need to do except to wait for the other party to respond. “You know that’s not why I am here today son.” My father responded as he brought the cup up to his mouth “we need to find out the power that comes from within, we found a way to live so long without aging but we also need to find out if that comes with any other side effects.“ my father stood up and put his glass down on my desk, he turned and started walking toward the door, “your next mission is to find out exactly what that is.” He stated before going to leave, I quickly shot up from my chair “what happens if I decide that is not what I will be doing while here.” I ask, my hands on my desk my head down. “Then I will do something and find someone who will.” My father stated before opening the door and walking out.
