Quarantine Dates

Distracted by my presence, as I walked into the Black owned meat market , during quarantine day 5. A tall dark complexion gentleman turned around in line and stared into my eyes while looking at me from head to toe and said , ‘You look beautiful in that dress, and very sexy.’ I said to myself, ‘How does he know how beautiful I am with my mask on?. I smiled but he couldn’t see it.

We talked a little longer flirting back and forth. He asked for my phone number after we exchanged names. He asked if I would like to go to dinner when this Pandemic lock down is over. Though we were only six feet apart, I had to damn near yell my digits to him. There were also other men in the market staring at me as if they haven’t seen a woman in years. Well this 5 day lockdown felt like 5 years. I told Lorenzo it was nice meeting him as I thought to myself, ‘Lord he is Fine’. As I was exiting the store, I had to turn around and glance at him one more time with my school girl grin! I hurried home I just knew he was gonna call me, I had that gut feeling.

The night was young and I grew wrinkles, but eventually the phone rang. Lorenzo and I talked all night long. Before I knew it my morning breath was kicking in. I hadn’t sat on the phone that long with anyone since the 8th grade. After that night Lorenzo and I talked everyday. Morning til evening and on some days evening til morning. Since we were both working from home due to the Pandemic, conversation time was plentiful, we had sooooooo much in common, it was scary.

We both decided to take our friendship to the next level. Lorenzo thought it was a good idea to have virtual dates. I was already overwhelmed with FaceTime and Zoom since I work at home. I let him talk me into it anyway. He was sooooo charming and had so much swag he could damn near talk me into anything…….even out of my clothes at this point. Lorenzo brought out some of my personality I hadn’t seen in a long time. I admit it, I was getting a little rusty with dating, I rather stay rusty than be thirsty.

Lorenzo and i had so much fun on our virtual dates. Our Mondays were ‘Manic Monday’. We would show up as a character and stay in our character the entire night. For ‘Taco Tuesday, we both were in out kitchens cooking tacos. I made sure I brought my ‘A’ game to the kitchen with sexy outfits and stilettos, which made me feel sexy. On ‘Wine Wednesday’, he asked what kind of shoes did I have on, I appeared to look shorter. I kept the camera waist up while we enjoyed a glass of wine together. We both sipped on wine together with lit candles in the background. Not letting him see my feet gave me a sense of power to make him ‘wonder and want’. After a few Wednesdays went by, after two glasses of wine, he insisted I lower the camera. I repositioned the camera to my feet and he laughed so hard. I had on a FLY ass dress on on my feet were my Mickey Mouse house shoes.

It has been literally 3 months of just real good conversation, like back in the days. Now I’m think to myself, how did I get soooo lucky to have this man sent to me, of all times, during the Quarantine? The chemistry and the conversations were off the chain! We covered everything there is to talk about. Within three months, Lorenzo was so tuned in with my emotions, as I was with his. I expected to walk out of Quarantine and take our relationship to the next level…..Wait a minute, am I crazy? Lord, I’m too old for this!

Now here it is late Wednesday night, I’m pacing back and forth with all this anxiety building up. I know a thought came to mind…..tomorrow is ‘Truthful Thursday’. I’m gonna ask Lorenzo a couple of questions to see where we are going with this. It’s Thursday and we can ask any question that comes to mind and you answer each question as truthfully as you can. My anxiety is increasing. We started our evening as usual with hello and a few compliments. Boy, did Lorenzo look good tonight…….Why I don’t know, he was as fine as the day I met him in person. I was excited we were getting out of Pandemic lock down tomorrow, and we had planned a Friday night in person date. I said Lorenzo I have one question for you. Which political party are you with? He said, ‘Oh that’s easy babe, REPUBLICAN!!!! ……….

I said ‘ BOY BYE’
