QR Code Murders: Gravity
Yawquisha keeps up the camerawork.
St. Kitts and Darby wheeled around to the scene.
“I think we beat her this time,” Darby grinned. Then, Yawquisha put her camera in his face as he exited the car.
“I don’t think so,” St. Kitts admitted.
Kim walked with wide strides. They found the body.
“This was DeVonte Dill. His rapper name is Dough Cash D. If we get enough information from his family, we can actually begin to unravel these cases,” Darby said.
Kim’s long exaggerated swagger once again caused viewers to take note of her presence.
“This is a link back to Parton. He was on DSMG,” she observed.
“Yes, this link is an important detail in nabbing who else is out here.”
Tall K came into Kim’s consciousness. If anyone had extra information, it was him. She made a motion to Yawquisha and they both left the scene up to the two agents.
Upon reaching the tattoo parlor, Tall K knew that he would be questioned again.
“Keeping everything above board, I swear because I’m not going back to prison,” he announced when the two women walked in the establishment.
“It’s cool,” Kim said. “I just need some more information.”
“Okay, I’ll help as best as I can.”
“Who was your last client?”
“I don’t know, some kid named DeVonte or something. He raps as Dough Cash D.”
Kim slammed a picture of the deceased bearing his QR Code tattoo.
“Jesus, I just saw this guy.”
“And that’s what I need to know. With Parton behind bars, his artists are still getting tatted up from you.”
“It’s sad.”
“Who else do you have on your list?”
“I can give that to you. No problem.”
“Alright. It would be much appreciated if you just acknowledge the fact that these deaths can stop with you.”
“I’m just a tattooist.”
“Exactly,” Kim pointed out.
Tall K journeyed to his office. It was cramped but relatively kept. Posters and designs adorned the walls of this space. It was almost cozy. On his laptop he had a spreadsheet of clients who were scheduled to receive ink.
“Here it is. Past, present, and future. Everybody. I even have a boost in females. They even get their naughty bits inked. I remain professional, I just treat them like any other.”
Kim looked at him. “The male clients. No female rapper has come up dead. I need your male clientele.” She shot a look at him that seemed calm and strong at the same time.
“Gotcha.” He scrolled through the QR Codes and stitched them all together. Yawquisha captured all of this. She remembered to record each and every code.
Later, she entered the codes back to back in a file and it played like a movie. She saw dance moves and showing off money like it was leaves of grass. The rappers drank lean and poured it on scantily clad females.
When she had prepared her latest video, she knew that she had to include all of this material in her video. She chopped it up like a steak and served her viewers. Within ten minutes, she had two hundred thousand views.
She had scored another notch as far as the number of people watching her work. She relished the fact that she was successful despite the idea of so much death involved in her work, pushing her to see what she does as an act of justice. She went to bed with the notion that she would be fulfilling her dream of making the best videos possible.
She woke up to two million views. It was not celebratory. She kept her composure and knew the gravity of her own work.
