Episode 4

At the speed of light, the Monster ate them all. Before anyone knew what had happened, it was over.

"Now, no one is hurt yet. Let's keep it that way."

"I tell you the choice is yours," I said, "Go away."

"That's not going to happen. We will not leave until this situation is solved."

The situation changed. The SWAT vehicle arrived. When it came into the fire zone of the first gun, I released twenty golf balls. Aiming to bounce under the vehicle, They tore up the exhaust system, brake lines, fuel lines, and the wiring harness. The vehicle rolled to a stop. The men jumped out. I fired twenty balls into the group as they tried to assemble, the balls knock down two of the cops, and they scattered for cover.

"I will not just give up," I said.

I tried to resonate the cavity. It was still too low of a frequency. It had to fill more.

The cops said, "You need to surrender. Stop this!"

"You leave! That will end this," I said.

"We are not going to leave. We will take you into custody, and your hostage will be free."

On one cam, I could see the SWAT team approaching on the east side. I fried two opposing claymores. The super balls were bouncing everywhere. The SWAT team withdrew.

Suddenly one of my cams went dark. They had shot it. Then another. I had no choice. I fired the first gun at the cops in a continuous stream of golf balls. They bounced off everything. They forced the cops back, and they were angry.

A phalanx of cops with shields approached. I shot with the first gun and drove them into the superball alcove.

There were three claymores mounted on the three walls of the shielded space that the gun could not reach. When the last guy dove in for cover in the alcove, I set off the claymores. The super balls drove them out, and I fired the first gun. They were driven back again.

I only had 137 shots left.

I rang the tank again. The frequency was still too low. Only now it was very close, just a little longer.

Some cops spread out and approached. I fired the gun but quickly ran out of ammo. The cops took a closer position. They advanced again. They had just got into the zone of the second gun, but I waited.

They advance again. This time, as they advanced, I opened up with the second gun. They scattered like leaves in the wind.

This time they would move around and make me waste ammo. I tried to conserve, but it was a game to get me to expend my stash of golf balls. After an hour, I was out. I started to panic when I remembered the goal.

The tank was minutes of being at the right level. I rang the tank again. It was close enough to work but not perfect. They made it to the front door. I set off two more claymores, and the mass of speeding superballs pushed them back again.

Only, that was it. It was over. They busted down the door and entered the house.

"Go away," I said as they tried to break down the door to the control room.

"We are coming to get you."

"You do realize it is too late."

I rang the tank. The resonance was perfect.

I said, "Here, my children, your playground is now open."

I released the Monster. In trying to ring the planet, Tesla used a back wave amplifier. With each wave, the power increased. In seven waveforms, the power was in the Terawatts, a number with twelve zeros behind it. One more pump and the power went to a number with sixteen zeros. The Monster could no longer be contained.

At the speed of light, the Monster burst free. In less than a second, it was over. Those that saw it said, "It was a great blue plasma that flashed down every power line in the world."

What do monsters do? They eat things. What did this Monster like to eat? Coils. Every eletronic coil was burned open. No electricity, no electronics, no cars, and no banks. Just plenty of angry people and a lot of guns.

I opened the door and came out with my hands up.

"I surrender."

The first cop said, "What the Hell did you do?"

"I released the Monster."

The cop said, "What happened?"

"The Monster ate every coil."

The cop said, "What the Hell does that mean?"

"Why, it means that you are so screwed. No electricity, the generators are toast, no lights. No elevators. No AC. No money in banks. It is all gone. All computers are nonfunctional. No ignition coils, therefore no gas cars. No motors, no electric cars. No motorized power tools. No cell phones. No radios or receivers. No TVs. No refrigerators. Nothing to pump water. No undying always ready pink drumming rabbits."

The cop said, "What are you talking about, fool."

I said, "Go out and explore your new world or should I say your old world, about 1750 or so."

In the background, there was an increase in the sound of gunfire.

One of the cops came up and said, "The cars are all dead. No radios."

"Are you all sure you want to be here?" I said, "Your families need you."

Two of the men turned, and one said, "See you, Jerry, I'm going to get Jan and the kids."

A burst of automictic gunfire echoed in the distance. You could see the smoke from several fires.
