Pumpkin Spice-The Lost Spice Girl

Logline: A now adult orphaned girl, believes she was supposed to be a part of the Spice Girls singing group and ultimately ends in her demise...

A single, infertile woman gets whiffs of a particular spice from outside of her kitchen window while doing dishes. She hears a baby’s coo and heads outside to find a baby holding a pumpkin, alone. Years pass as the woman has been raising this baby as her own.

The Spice Girls, a British singing group, are on tour in London, England as ads are displayed on television in the woman’s home. The baby is now an adult woman, Pumpkin, who’s been taking singing and dance lessons privately without her mothers’ knowledge, naturally is taking notice of these ads for the Spice Girls-feeling drawn to them. Her mother is afraid of losing her and shuts the idea/notion of her daughter ever leaving the neighborhood to pursue any outside dreams.

Pumpkin develops a pill addiction (uppers) in her attempts to escape her mothers’ reality of staying in their small neighborhood. As the Spice Girls concerts continue to be just within reach, she has acclimated herself to being the anonymous leader of a non-fan club of them. Pumpkin has developed a false hatred and sense of belonging with them while in this disposition.

We attempt not to puke when seeing her trials and tribulations continue down the path of desperation, isolation, and obsession. A montage of Pumpkins' skewed perspective of belonging with the Spice Girls flickers through her memories as displayed across the screen. She's hiding in her room, awaiting her mother to leave for work on the night of a Spice Girls' touring concert. Her plans come together as she packs for her long night out in hopes of joining them on stage to reveal her position amongst them.

The suitcase she brings along includes everything she's been accumulating over the years for her big debut as Pumpkin Spice. Her note cards, memorized, but in order for her to go over in rehearsal. The perfect lip color, for an orange hue that will match perfectly with her speckled face and hazel eyes. She's watched through beauty counters, the many "professional" make-up applications, so she knows exactly how to style herself. These details, she saves for her introduction to the women on tour in their dressing room...to let them know, she can do it all, if not, better than any of them...they'll see.

Finally, Pumpkin attempts to contact the Spice Girls in person, in order to blackmail their manager, realizing that this could be her chance to become one of the Spice Girls. The groups’ manager is outside of the Spice Girls hotel and gets placed in the utility closet on the tour bus by yours truly, Pumpkin. Jubilee! Pumpkin arrives in the girl groups’ dressing room for rehearsal, proclaiming she is now a part of the act while displaying signs of being high (from her pills) then grabs one of the Spice Girls as a hostage in a fit of nervousness. Feelings of confusion/paranoia have struck her mentality and she’s realizing the girls know who she is from one of them recognizing the way she is speaking is familiar to some of the hate mail they’ve received from that non-fan club.

Pumpkin pulls a knife from her pocket and threatens to not let them go on stage without her in the show, while still holding the knife she attempts to threaten the hostage Spice Girl she’s been holding. Scary Spice enters the dressing room without Pumpkins’ knowledge, comes from behind and knocks Pumpkin unconscious. Pumpkin is arrested and left feeling more lost than ever before as she heads to the psychiatric hospital for further assessing and booking/processing.
