Powerful fool

“If you spare my life, I can tell you about a treasure buried in this forest. The treasure is so vast that even if you used it for centuries, it would never be exhausted.”

This is the story of a man who was extremely powerful, yet painfully foolish. His real name was something else, but people knew him by the strange and memorable name Jua Rata. Jua Rata possessed extraordinary physical strength, but he lacked wisdom and understanding. He could eat as much food as fifty men at a time. Apart from eating, he did nothing useful in life.

His father lived in constant worry. Feeding such a son was difficult, and watching him waste his strength was even more painful. Jua Rata neither worked nor helped anyone. He only trusted his muscles and believed strength alone was enough to succeed in life.

One day, someone told Jua Rata about a mysterious valley hidden beyond the northern mountains. The valley was called Agnistan. It was said that a massive treasure was buried there. If someone managed to find it, they would live in luxury for the rest of their life. The idea of endless wealth thrilled Jua Rata.

Without thinking deeply, he set out on his journey the very same day. As he traveled, evening fell, and he spent the night in a village. Early the next morning, just as he was about to leave, the village chief called him over.

“Young man,” the chief said, “you look incredibly strong. Stay here with me, work for me, and I will make you wealthy.”

Jua Rata replied proudly, “Sir, I am on my way to find a great treasure. I have no need for small earnings.”

Hearing this, the chief fell silent. Jua Rata continued on his journey.

As he passed through a dense forest, he spotted a deer. Driven by hunger and excitement, he chased it. The deer ran fast, but Jua Rata was faster. Soon, he caught it.

The frightened deer spoke, “If you let me go, I will tell you about a treasure buried in this forest. The treasure is so great that even centuries would not be enough to use it all.”

Jua Rata burst into laughter. “Do not think me a fool,” he said. “I am already searching for a much greater treasure.”

Ignoring the warning, he killed the deer, roasted it over fire, ate his fill, and moved on.

Eventually, he reached the northern mountains. Not far away, an elderly man was sitting in deep worship. Seeing Jua Rata approach, the old man called him closer. Jua Rata asked, “O wise elder, do you know anything about the Valley of Agnistan?”

The elder replied calmly, “This valley is known as the Valley of Death. Whoever has gone there has never returned. If you value your life, do not go. There is nothing there except destruction.”

Jua Rata laughed loudly. “I am no coward,” he said arrogantly. “Even if a monster lives there, I will lift it and throw it away. I will go there no matter what.”

The old man looked at him with pity but said nothing more. He knew Jua Rata was walking straight into danger.

At last, Jua Rata reached the entrance of the Valley of Agnistan. What happened next was terrible. An unseen force grabbed him and pulled him inside. From that day onward, no one ever heard of him again.

Jua Rata could have used his strength wisely. He could have lived peacefully, helped others, and found contentment. Instead, blinded by greed and arrogance, he rejected honest work, ignored sincere advice, and destroyed opportunities placed directly in his path.

He refused the village chief’s generous offer, killed the deer that tried to save him, and dismissed the warning of a kind-hearted elder. Though he believed himself intelligent, his actions proved otherwise.

He refused the village chief’s generous offer, killed the deer that tried to save him, and dismissed the warning of a kind-hearted elder. Though he believed himself intelligent, his actions proved otherwise.

He was powerful, but he was a fool—and his foolishness led him to ruin.

Moral:

Strength without wisdom is dangerous. Greed blinds judgment, and ignoring sincere advice often leads to destruction.
