“Mother, what is that?”

Mother inserts her card into the guide, activating the hologram.

Invented in 1851, the washing machine was used to cleanse items with water and detergent. This machine operated until the 23rd century, before holographic outfits and Pixel+ technology were fully integrated.

“Washing their clothes? In a box?”

“Sweetie, Earth was a much dirtier place before Pixelization. We cannot blame our ancestors for not knowing better.”

The simulation initiates.

“Mary inserts clothing into the washing machine, along with her favorite deterge-”

How primitive. I much prefer our current lifestyle. I couldn’t imagine existing without my Pixel+ implant.

Oh cool! This was so imaginative. I'm not sure if I've settled on which I'd prefer, the Pixel+ or current laundry... Implants freak me out!

When my daughter was about five years old she stayed overnight with my parents. My mother reported that she was fascinated and kept asking after one of the items that had been a fixture in the guest room. It puzzled her. it intrigued her. She had never seen it before. It was an ironing board.....

  • I'm so happy to see this revised and published on Vocal. Congratulations on Top Story!
